Rubydogs Rescues
Who We Are
Rubydogs Rescues is dedicated to the rescue and placement of adoptable American Pit Bull Terriers. This wonderful breed is doubly victimized, first by cruel individuals who perpetrate uspeakable abuses on their animals in hopes of eliciting aggression, or "making them mean." Then, by careless news organizations desperate for ratings who condemn the breed and manipulate the facts .
As a result, the reputation of the once-revered American Pit Bull Terrier has suffered irreversible damage. Historically, "Pit Bull" attacks were conspicuously absent from news copy. The American Pit Bull Terrier was perceived as a loving, intelligent companion animal. Both Helen Keller and Charlie Chaplin had Pit Bulls, and who could forget the ever-lovable Petey, canine co-star of the Little Rascals series? .
Sadly, it seems that many people have forgotten Petey, and all the other wonderful APBTs out there. However, the reality remains that the APBT is a superb canine companion, and Rubydogs Rescues will continue our efforts to educate the community about this wonderful breed.
Please email us if you'd like to learn more about the American Pit Bull Terrier .
Adopting a Friend
Although the APBT is a wonderful dog, it is certainly not the breed for everyone. For this reason, Rubydogs Rescues makes every effort to ensure that each dog and adoptive family is a perfect match. Our application for adoption, home visit, and vet reference check help us to accomplish this .
Email us to apply, or just to meet one of our wonderful dogs .
Volunteering and Donations
Foster homes are always needed--please email us if you think you can help.
Donations are also welcome--email us for a mailing address .
Rubydog's Rescues is sponsored by the Friends of the Linden Animal Shelter, a Pit-friendly rescue organization dedicated to the care and placement of homeless animals that have found their way to the Linden Shelter. Please consider donating funds to this wonderful rescue group-visit their Petfinder home page at http://www.petfinder.org/shelters/linden.html.
(Thanks so much to Dr. Barry Orange at Lexington Animal Hospital in Clark, NJ, who provides excellent veterinary care to our rescued APBTs.)
Finally--Rubydog's Rescues believes that the use of American Pit Bull Terriers in Pet-Assisted Therapy is a great way to improve the reputation of the breed. If you have an Amstaff or APBT that might excel at therapy work, email us for info on how and where to get your dog tested and certified.
