History

St. Hubert's, founded in 1939 by Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge, is a comprehensive animal adoption, rescue and education center. The main headquarters are located in Chatham Township, NJ and it also has an adoption center in Branchburg, NJ and a dog training school in Madison, NJ.

Mission

St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center is dedicated to the humane treatment of companion animals. The organization believes in and provides services that support the human-animal bond and seeks to foster an environment in which people respect all living creatures.

Services provided by St. Hubert's

Animal Control and Rescue Services
St. Hubert's experienced staff provides care for nearly 4,500 animals each year.
Animal Adoption
St. Hubert's offers companion animals for adoption at both of its shelters and seeks to make a match that will last a livetime. Trained adoption counselors evaluate and get to know each animal in their care.
Humane Education
St. Hubert's offers a variety of classes for children on subjects ranging from safety around animals to responsible pet care and wildlife. It also offers its curriculum "Make Kindness Congageous" to trachers free of charge. The program, designed for children in 1st - 3rd grades, meets NJ core curriculum standards.
Paws For People-Animal Assisted Therapy
St. Hubert's pet visitation program allows the ill and elderly to experience the documented therapeutic benefits of animal companionship.
Dog Obedience Training
St. Hubert's dog training school, one of the largest and most respected in the United States, awards approximately 4,000 diplomas to canine students each year in courses ranging from Puppy Kindergarten and Basic Obedience to a full array of dog sports programs. It also holds classes for dogs with behavioral issues.
Pet Loss Therapy
Support and group counseling for people grieving over a deceased or lost pet is offered free of charge at its Madison facility.
Membership Program
A membership newsletter keeps members informed of St. Hubert's special events and offers other privileges. St. Hubert's is fortunate to have over 20,000 donors.
