Our Featured Pet...

Our new featured pet is our next oldest resident, "Skeeter". She was found as a stray on a farm and they didn't want her where she showed up. She is a good guard dog as hse growls at strangers and looks very formidable but then as she gets introduced to the stranger, she's fine. She is especially wary of tall men. Good temperment otherwise though and is ok with children as long as it's not 20 of them at once:):) pcanimalshelter@live.com

Who We Are

We are a no kill animal shelter that can house up to 15 dogs and 10 cats comfortably. We strive to train each dog to pass the K9 Good Citizen test and make them better pets when they leave than they were when they came. We also help with Colorado and Nebraska pet transports!! Three of our dogs have even flown to Canada!! Our shelter is attached to the local veterinary hospital so each animal is examined frequently and healthy prior to adoption.

Adopting a friend

We have an adoption application to be filled out including personal and veterinary references. The adoption fees are very low because we have the blessing of Dr. Jensen with Perkins County Veterinary Hospital who donates lots of her services to these homeless animals. They get the best care possible no matter their condition when they arrive. And everyone is spayed and neutered before they leave. This is included in the adoption fee to help ensure unwanted litters don't "accidentally" happen after adoption. Also all of our pet food is donated by Hill's Science Diet for the cost of shipping only. They also donate one free adopter bag with every lucky animal going to a new forever home.

Come Visit Us!

Just 18 miles from the Colorado border and 20minutes south of Ogallalla(Lake Maconaghy) we are easy to find. Our location is just 1/2 block south of the intersection of Nebraska state highways 23 and 61. There is a large sign for the Perkins County Veterinary Hospital on Highway 61 now!! The building is just West of the self storage units. We also help with Colorado and Nebraska transport so don't be shy about expoloring the animals here, we'll get them there!!
