Spring is here!
Spring is a time of excitement for most pets. From a pet's point of view, winter offers less sights and sounds and when the life of spring arrives, expect your pet to react! (Click here) The excitement of spring leads to many pets finding a way to escape. The extra sights and sounds is sometimes too much for a pet with spring fever!

Who We Are

Annabelle's Second Chance is a small private foster home/rescue located in the Greenville/Winterville area in North Carolina focusing on the bull breeds (specifically the APBT and AST) and occasionally other pets and breeds. All dogs/cats placed will live indoors (or indoor/outdoor - NO outdoor only) where they will be indoor pets and members of the family. All animals will be fully vetted and altered prior to placement. Keep checking back for an updated list. You can click here to see some of the faces we have helped.

We are in desperate need of foster homes and help with medical care. We have taken in several heartworm positive dogs lately and need to raise funds to pay for their heartworm treatment so they can be adopted into new homes.

A Dog Sits Waiting
Kathy Flood

A dog sits waiting in the cold autumn sun. Too faithful to leave, too frightened to run.
He's been here for days now with nothing to do, but sit by the road waiting for you.
He can't understand why you left him that day. He thought you and he were stopping to play.
He's sure you'll come back, and that's why he stays. How long will he suffer? How many days?
His legs have grown weak, his throat's parched dry. He's sick now from hunger and falls, with a sigh.
He lays down his head and closes his eyes. I wish you could see how a waiting dog dies.
