Who We Are

Hav-A-Hart Pet Rescue, Inc. is dedicated to saving dogs, cats, puppies and kittens from high kill, gassing and other shelters in the Central North Carolina area and educating the public on how to stop the killing. Our goal is to provide medical care, vaccinations and quarantine for the animals so they may be transported to various rescues for adoption. Spay/Neuter may be provided by the receiving rescue. Pets adopted directly from Hav-A-Hart Pet Rescue foster homes will be spayed or neutered prior to adoption unless they have not reached the required age/weight for surgery. We will assist with transport to receiving rescues when possible. Pets accepted into rescues for adoption will not be charged a fee, however donations from received adoption fees are appreciated so that we may continue to provide vetting for other animals. Adoption fees include: spay/neuter, shots appropriate for age, worming, Felv/Heartworm test where applicable, first application of Frontline and heartworm prevention. **Note** Hav-A-Hart Pet Rescue, Inc. often lists pets for adoption as a referral. These pets may have a different adoption fee and Hav-A-Hart Pet Rescue, Inc. makes no claims or guarantees regarding the health and/or temperament of these referral pets. Please make every attempt to find a warm, loving home to the animal that has served you so loyally. Please do not take your pet to a gassing shelter. If your pet is elderly and has failing health, do the decent thing and take him/her to a vet to be humanely euthanized. Do not list your beloved pet in the paper as FREE TO GOOD HOME. Sad to say, but there are many bad people out there who will take your family pet, and use it as bait for pit bull fighting, or your sweet declawed cat. Or worse. Please make sure you know who is taking your pet. Ask for a vet reference and make the call. Do a home visit. If they won't tell you where they live, or won't give you a reference,don't give them your pet.
