*To responsibly rescue and rehome adoptable American Pit Bull Terriers who are in need. Only American Pit Bull Terriers with outstanding and stable temperaments are accepted into our program. We at APBTRR firmly believe that the breed as a whole is more important than any individual dog.
*To operate a referral service and maintain a website to assist shelters, other rescues and individuals who have an American Pit Bull Terrier in need.
*To educate the general public as well as Pit Bull owners on the breed to encourage responsible ownership. To counsel owners and potential owners on what to expect of a American Pit Bull Terrier and how to responsibly own the breed.
*To aggressively promote spay/neuter of American Pit Bull Terriers and to discourage irresponsible breeding and ownership. We at APBTRR believe that the only method that will be successful to curb the overpopulation problem in the breed is an aggressive spay/neuter policy combined with a hands on approach, counseling, and in some cases financial incentives to encourage spay/neuter of American Pit Bull Terriers. APBTRR will provide financial assistance (when available) for owners who have not the means to pay for altering. APBTRR will also provide transport to and from the vet for owners who do not have the ability for whatever reason of taking the American Pit Bull Terrier in themselves to be altered.
*To prevent cruelty and abuse of American Pit Bull Terriers. To educate American Pit Bull Terrier owners on the correct way to house and care for American Pit Bull Terriers. To provide doghouses, kennels, etc to needy American Pit Bull Terriers when these items are available to APBTRR.
*To fundraise for American Pit Bull Terrier rescue efforts.
*To educate children on the American Pit Bull Terrier and dog safety through literature and discussion.
*To educate breeders and discourage indiscriminate and unethical breeding practices in American Pit Bull Terriers. To educate breeders on the importance of stable temperaments and sound health.
*To discourage the public from buying American Pit Bull Terriers from unethical breeders by providing literature and counseling.
Urgent Notice Happy Hills Animal Foundation in Staley,NC desperately needs some assistance placing a number of Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes. Happy Hills generously opens their heart to Pit Bulls and have a number of Pit Bulls and mixes that have been with them a long time.
Please if you are looking to adopt or are a rescue that can take in even one visit their website at http://www.hhaf.org/dogsforadoption.php or contact them at info@hhaf.org Some of the Pit Bulls they have available are also listed here. Contact info is below their pics. Thank you.
************************************************************Also, often listed on our site are Pit Bulls who are in the care of other rescue groups who need a helping hand and a kind heart for heartworm treatments or other medical conditions. Information on who to contact to donate towards their medical bills will be posted in their bios. We at APBTRR do not believe that it is ever acceptable for a dog to die from a treatable condition. But often the treaments and surgeries are very expensive and the funding is just not available. If you can help, please contact either us or the email listed with the Pit Bull.
************************************************************APBTRR is a small group of volunteers dedicated to the education and responsible placement of the American Pit Bull Terrier.
