All strays are held for 3 working days for the owner to come and reclaim. All pets are adopted on a first come, first served basis. Adoption fees are $80 for any dog and $55 for any cat which includes having the pet spayed or neutered. All adoptable animals are given a rabies vaccine per NC state law, additionally, all adoptable dogs are given a DA2PPV, wormed and Microchipped. All adoptable cats are given Fel-O-Vax IV with calicivirus and wormed. ***********PLEASE NOTE: *********** If you can no longer provide a home for your pet or find a stray, you need to know that if you bring that animal to the shelter it will be evaluated for adoption depending on certain criteria. The animal has to be friendly, healthy, and sometimes depends on kennel space availability. Please call the shelter directly for more details. Please note that some animals that are brought to the shelter are strays that no one has claimed. Within the 3 days that they are here, we determine if the dog or cat could possibly be adoptable based on health & attitude. If within that three days we find the animal suitable for adoption, we will give a rabies vaccination. This holding period also gives us a chance to get to know the pet better! Please feel free to call the shelter at (704) 878-5424 if you might have any further questions.
