Who We Are

LIFE Animal Haven was started in 1999 as a private rescue group and foster home network. At this time, LIFE itself is no longer in operation, however this website is maintained to list pets for adoption by individuals who are trying to help animals one by one.

Kobee Needs Help

Kobee's caretakers need to raise $5000.00 to have surgery at the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine to correct a cleft palate.

Can you help us??

Kobee on Jan 28,2008!

UPDATE 5/20/08

Kobe is scheduled for surgery in June!!! He has finally grown enough to have the surgery to repair his cleft palate. He's had a few bumps along the road, but is healthy enough for the surgery now. Now begins the long road of healing and training him to eat and be like other dogs.

Kobee's mom was a stray beagle. Her finders took her in to the vet when she was having trouble giving birth. All of the pups were born apparently healthy. But a few days later she rejected Kobee. Kobee was surrendered to the vet clinic and adopted by their staff who bottle and tube fed Kobee. When he was a couple of weeks old, they realized why Kobee's mom had rejected him - he was born with a cleft palate. This is a congenital condition leaving an opening in the roof of his mouth, so that he can't eat normally.

By this time Kobee was a happy, energetic puppy, despite his problem. And he had his caretakers' hearts wrapped around his little paw. So they resolved to try to do what they could to ensure that Kobee survives and has a full life.

Surgery to repair this defect is possible, but it can only be done by specialized veterinary surgeons and that cost money. Kobee has already had several surgeries to implant feeding tubes so that he can eat and gain the necessary weight to undergo surgery. The surgery needs to be done at a very specific timing in his growth as well -- so if the money isn't collected very soon, Kobee's time may run out.
