Our Pet List

URGENT

We are having temperatures in the triple digits for the next few days.
  • Please do not leave your pets in your vehicles even for 1 minute.
  • If you can, bring your pets inside.
  • If you can't bring your pet inside, please make sure they are in a shady spot outside with access to plenty of clean, cool water.
  • Storm Damages Shelter

On February 12th, a storm caused a great amount of damage to our outside dog kennels. Due to this, space is extremely limited. Adopting a pet should never be a snap decision, but if you have been thinking about it, this would be a great time to come meet your new best friend. Donations would also be greatly appreciated to help us replace the damaged kennels.

  • We are having an unbelievable number of newborn kittens brought into the shelter. Before you assume a newborn kitten is abandoned, make sure there is no sign of a mother cat. Healthy looking kittens probably have a mom somewhere near by, but she won't show herself with you still there. Kittens that have a mom have a far better chance than those who are bottlefed.
  • Call 1-866-901-7729 toll free for information about low cost spay or neuter for your pet.

    Author Unknown

I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal and I was angry. "God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?" God was silent for a moment and then spoke softly, "I have done something," was the reply, "I created you."

    Who We Are

We are a group of people that love animals, who for all our faults and differences come together for one thing...to do the best we can for the welfare of the animals.

Our goals at the Vicksburg-Warren Humane Society are to rescue animals from abuse and neglect; to educate pet owners about proper animal welfare, to promote spaying and neutering to avoid over-population and abuse; and to bring people and pets together for the benefit of both.

    Adopting a friend

To adopt your new pet, you will need to come to the shelter and fill out our application form. Our adoption fee is $75.00. This includes a free vet check within 7 days of adoption, first shots, worming, and spay/neuter when the animal is of age. It is mandatory that you have your pet spayed or neutered. If the pet you adopt is already spayed or neutered the fee is $30.00. If you live outside of the Vicksburg area please include your city & state with your e-mail inquiries.
