THANK YOU TO PAWSITIVE ANIMAL WORKS, STUDIO 1004 PHOTOGRAPHY AND THE CITY OF KIRKSVILLE FOR ALL OF THEIR EFFORTS WITH THE DOGGIE LAUA EVENT. THEY HAD A GREAT TIME AND RAISED $500.00 FOR THE SHELTER PETS. THANK YOU EVERYONE THAT HELPED AND ATTENDED!!!

OUR PETS AND PRIZES FAMILY FUN CARNIVAL WAS A BONE-A-FIDE SUCCESS. WE HAD CLOSE TO 400 VISITORS AND EVERYONE HAD A GREAT TIME. AS USUAL WE HAVE THE BEST VOLUNTEERS EVER. WITHOUT THEM THIS EVENT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO HAPPEN. THANK YOU TO OUR WONDERFUL COMMUNITY MEMBER SPONSORS THAT HELPED US WITH SET UP FOR THE CARNIVAL SO WE DID NOT HAVE TO RISK LOSING ANY FUNDING FOR THE PETS HERE AT THE SHELTER. WE ARE ALREADY PLANNING NEXT YEARS FESTIVITIES.
PAWS-A-THON WILL BE IN SPRING OF 2009. GET YOUR WALKING SHOES READY AND BRING YOUR FAVORITE CANINE PAL AND HELP RAISE MONEY FOR THE LESS FORTUNATE FURRY FRIENDS LOOKING FOR HOMES.

We recently had a large volume of dogs come into the shelter. We are getting many of these babies homes and finding some wonderful rescue groups that have worked with us to find these guys loving homes. Special thanks to all of these special people for their time and efforts to help us save these babies. You guys have been wonderful!!
Our spay/neuter policy has been in place almost 4 years now and we are begining to see big changes. The surrounding communities have been receptive to the education of spaying and neutering of their animals. We thank everyone in the community for their support and help to implement this policy.
ALL of our animals over 6 months of age are altered before going to their new homes. Animals under 6 months will require a deposit of $40.00 until we receive verification of spay/neuter (Because of this, we have also raised our adoption prices to accomodate the cost of the spay and neuter operations.) Through this program we hope to encourage the importance of responsible pet ownership and the prevention of unwanted litters.
We now have a pre-application for many of our pets. Please be prepared for a 48 hour wait for us to check references.
