Pet of the Week

Our pet of the week introduces himself! Meet Pepsi! Pepsi Please contact Kim (k.balder@frontiernet.net), (507) 351-6647 for more information about this pet.
WE ARE AN ALL VOLUNTEER FOSTER BASED NO KILL RESCUE! Pepsi is about 1 year old and 60 lbs. He is very smart and will work for food. He knows sit, down and shake and learned them in a few days perfectly. He loves food motivated which makes him easy to train. He also has a mind of his own and will figure things out. He is a lover of tennis balls and you can throw one and then he will mostly bring it back to throw another ( you needs 2 balls) When he is done with that he will just run around with the ball. Pepsi loves to play with other dogs and would love a fenced in yard. He is good natured but fine walking on leash but nervous if he is going in a place never been before: like a dark deep basement. That will come in time. To get him into a crate, you need food. He still needs one because he is not housebroken as of 5/2/08. He is clutsy in the house and nervous and won't settle down in the house except at night in a kennel. That may come with patience. He is very loyal and when he jumps the 4 foot fence, you call him back and he is back on a dime. He loves his people. He is a people dog even though he will play with other dogs too. Normally, we wouldn't place a dog as an outside dog but he enjoys the outdoors and if you are an outdoor person and spend time outside at your hobby farm or in a outbuilding for work, he would be a great companion. However, if you want him to be a housedog, he needs to come in more to learn house manners. He thinks cats a moving chew toys and wants to get them. So he would do fine with ferral barn cats but never with very friendly indoor or outdoor cats. >He was an impound dog that was never claimed. We think he is mixed with husky because of his personality. He likes to be with another dog outside and if you are looking for a dog to live outside with another and you have 10 or more acres or a fenced in area he would be happy too. He does have that double undercoat and sheds a lot. We brush him a lot and working on that. He responds to men more than women and because he needs work on manners, we recommend not a first time dog owner for him. He will become a good dog, but only in the right home! Men are the alpha to him and woman are the ones that gives him treats and love! He will roll over on his belly for anyone who asks, however. Watch Pepsi's video below to see what an extremely handsome Black Lab he is and to witness what a calm nature/temperment he has been blessed with! If you love Black Labs, Pepsi is a diamond in the rough! Adoption fee: $175 ( cash only no checks) Pepsi plans to attend the Last Hope adoption event this Saturday at the Apple Valley Petco from 11:00 - 3:00. Please feel free to contact the foster to confirm this time and location!
