SHOW OFF YOUR PET while helping the animals in our care. Visit Main Street Treasures at 414 W. Main Street, Ionia, MI and buy an "ornament" with your pet's picture or your personal handwritten message. The ornaments are placed on the Animal Wish Tree for everyone to see. All proceeds benefit the Safe Haven animals. Whether you choose a shamrock for St. Patrick's Day, a bunny ornament for Easter or any of the many other ornament choices, your help is truly appreciated. Help us keep this Wish Tree decorated with "animals helping anmals!" THANKS again! .
Our adoptable pets are presented during the last two weeks of every month at PETsMART at the corner of 28th Street and East Paris in Grand Rapids.

Our adoptable dogs are at PETsMART on the last two Saturdays of every month. Our adoptable cats and kittens are at PETsMART for the full two weeks (last two weeks of each month) and can be visited any time during store hours. You may find your "soul mate" kitty, complete an application on the spot and a PETsMART Associate will fax it to us for review.
Please remember to visit our adoption partners, PETsMART and Pets Supplies Plus for all your pet needs. We could not do the rescue work we do without the help of these great partners!
We also have some of our wonderful cats and kittens at Pet Supplies
Plus in Grand Rapids at the corner of 60th and Kalamazoo. You can visit these cats at anytime
during regular store hours. The wonderful Pets Supplies Plus staff will help you with the adoption process.
We have many wonderful homeless dogs, cats, puppies and kittens waiting for a human companion to care for them. We consider all of our wonderful pets "featured!"
Safe Haven Humane Society is a registered non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, run totally by volunteers dedicated to animals. We are a total "foster home" rescue group. We are always looking for foster homes and new volunteers to help us with our very large, very rewarding task. If you can help with donations of supplies or funds, or can provide a foster home (we provide the food, supplies and medical care....you provide a temporary home and lots of love), transport animals or help us with adoptions, please contact us at shhspets@hotmail.com or 616-522-1611.
SHHS is in need of donations to help with medical costs and foster care of each of the animals in our program. There are many, many homeless dogs and cats in county animal shelters and we rescue animals from shelters who euthanize for space. In order to do that, we really need your help. Any donations would be appreciated.

Cat beds, laundry detergent, bleach, paper towels, scoopable litter, gas and phone cards, dry cat/kitten food (Science Diet or Nutro please), dry dog/puppy food (Science Diet or Nutro please), copy/fax/printer paper, and gift cards to PETsMART and Pet Supplies Plus (for toys, grooming supplies, etc.).
Adopting an animal from the Safe Haven Humane Society is one of the most gratifying things you will ever do. You can save a life and the animal will give you unquestioning love. We adopt animals to great homes all over Michigan. We do welcome out-of-state adopters, as long as the animal in question is already sterilized, or scheduled to be by a humane society associate, before being taken home. Michigan State Law requires that all animals adopted from animal shelters or humane societies be sterilized. We have no way to follow up on this with residents from other states, so if the animal is already fixed everyone is happy! We always have great cats and dogs that have already been sterilized so there is not a problem finding the perfect pet! We do not ship animals to adopters under any circumstances. Adopters must be willing to come see the pet in person prior to finalizing the adoption.
The process of adopting an animal is easy! You pick out the animal(s) you would like to adopt and fill out an adoption application. You may click this link, complete the application online and then email the application to shhspets@hotmail.com, print out the application and fax it to 616-794-1984, or bring it with you to one of our adoption sites.
