Our Featured Pet...

Hi, my name is Perry (Please click on our adoptable pet list to view my adorable photo). I was taken to a shelter because my family had too many pets. The shelter did not believe they could find me a home so they were going to put me to sleep. Fortunately, rescue sprung me from death row. However, by then I was already not feeling very well. See, while I was at the shelter I was very upset and stressed and I did not eat. My Foster Mom could not get me to eat either because I felt sick. I started throwing up and having bloody diarrhea. These symptoms went from worse to extreme and I found myself at the hospital. The doctors were not able to find a diagnosis but continued to treat my symptoms. I felt awful! I was so sick it almost got the best of me. I keep thinking gosh, I am only around 10 months old. I have a whole life ahead of me it can’t end this early. So, the doctors continued to treat my symptoms with lots of medication. I was still unable to eat and keep anything inside to gain strength so the medications had to do the work for me. Well, as time went on my progress was very slow, but progress it was. The rescue ran out of money to care for me but that did not stop them from keeping me at the hospital so I could receive the treatment I needed. In the end I was able to come home. I was on six medications, special food, and still a bit fragile, but at least I was out of the hospital. Today, I am a very happy, healthy, friendly, and fun little guy looking for a family to call my own. Thankfully, the rescue did not put a price on my life. However, they were left with a great debt to the hospital. My bill totaled $2060. If you can help with a donation I would greatly appreciate it. Donations can be made through paypal, msdachshund@yahoo.com. Or a check can be sent to 342 Forest View Dr. Waterford, MI, 48327. Please make check payable to either FunDoxie Dachshund Rescue or Michele Talerico. Thank you, Perry and the FunDoxie Dachshund Rescue We would also like to thank the wonderful Doctors and Staff at Parkway Small Animal and Exotic Hospital in Clinton Township Michigan. Due to their generous concern for animals Perry is still with us today!

Who We Are

FunDoxie Dachshund Rescue is a small rescue dedicated to helping doxies in need. We focus primarily on rescuing doxies from local animal shelters and owners who can no longer keep their doxie. We value each doxie knowing there is a home for all and take pride in finding them the forever homes they deserve.

Adopting a friend

If you are interested in one of our doxies, please fill out an adoption application at http://dachshund-rescue.org/michele. When that is submitted, the information will be checked and a home visit may be required. We do our very best to find appropriate homes for each doxie and may refuse any adoption request we believe is not in the best interest of the new family and the designated animal.
