Second Chance Chins was created to rescue chinchillas from negligent situations and to assist persons in re-homing their chinchilla if for any reason they can no longer care for it.
All chinchillas coming to Second Chance Chins are provided with a smoke-free environment, high-quality food, hay, dust baths, fresh filtered water, chew toys, chin safe wheels in large cages....and of course, a nightly treat! They remain here for a minimum of 30 days to be monitored for health issues and to allow them to adjust to a new environment before moving again to their forever home.
Second Chance Chins is not a public shelter facility. Chinchillas are housed in quiet, low activity, private homes. We do not have a facility for the public to visit.

Persons wishing to adopt from Second Chance Chins are required to fill out an online application which is then evaluated.
Adoption fees are $50.00 for adult chins, $60.00 for young chins (generally 6 months or younger). We charge adoption fees to ensure a good home to each chin.
ALL funds from adoption fees go back to the rescues in the form of food, supplies (litter, toys, water bottles, etc.), and veterinary care.
We do not personally profit from the adoption of rescues.

Please do not ask us to phone you. Our time is limited in what we are able to devote to rescue matters and funds we can devote to this purpose. Telephone conversations do not allow us to have everything in writing for future reference, and are not as reliable in making quick contact with clients (aka: phone tag). There's also the issue of the cost for repeated long-distance phone calls.
