Axle is big lovable boy! We are not sure why he hasn't been adopted except for his size. He has a beautiful soft red coat and and he doesn't mind sitting with you and letting you brush him and pet him. He may be a little large for shy timid children but with great leadership should make a great family pet. 
Autumn is a beautful tortie with a very quiet personality. She is a shy girl who does best with other shy cats and kittens. She looks for a quiet area to spend most of her day. Autumn will sit on your lap and loves to be brushed and petted. Like all of our animals Autumn is vaccinated, FeLuK/FIV negative and ready for a new home. FMAR is proud to feature a few of our adoptable pets at Petco in Westland on the third Saturday of each month.
Kitten season has officially begun and FMAR has more pets than what is featured on Petfinder, however the pets that are not listed are not quite ready for their new homes yet. Please continue to come back and see what we have available. You are also welcome to make an appointment to visit the shelter to see what we have coming in the future.

Volunteer Appreciation day was held on August. 23, 2008 at the shelter. It was planned as a fun day for our dedicated volunteers and their familiies to relax, eat great food, and talk about their visions and dreams for the shelter. After everyone ate, there was a short volunteer meeting to introduce the board of directors and hold an open discussion for questions, concerns, and requests. The rest of the evening everyone relaxed while Marcy talked about the mission she and Pete feel God has planned for FMAR and all of the dedicated volunteers who have given precious time to the animals and fundraising for the last 5 years. Special thanks to each and everyone of the volunteers, whether they are FMAR veterans or just starting out. Your hard work and dedication is appreciated more than words could ever express. Pet Emporium Pet Fest Adoption days event at 4940 Ann Arbor Saline Rd. (734-929-6533) was a fun and successful event for FMAR. We were among several other groups with pets available for adoption. Our area was huge allowing us to set up our lolli-pop game, halo's, water yo yo's and sell a couple of FMAR logo items as well. FMAR was able to find new loving homes for two of our dogs, Pebbles and Hutch. Thank you to everyone at the Pet Emporium for their hospitality. We look forward to next years event! Wayne County Community College invited FMAR back again for the WCCC Family Fun Day on August 9, 2008 as well. FMAR had a few adoptable pets for people to see and pet as well as several items for sale as well. Location is 9555 Haggerty Rd. Belleville, MI 48111 (734-699-8592). As always we were treated great and the event went great. Thank you to everone at Wayne County Community College for inviting us again this year. We look forward to next year.
Volunteer Clean Up Day was a huge success Saturday June 7th we scrubbed the kennels and work on updating the fencing in the dog area. We even managed to find time to spread new wood chips and add mesh to the kitty kennels so they can't escape! The weather was hot but there was a great breeze that kept everyone going. Lunch was a great time to unwind and think about what else needed to be done. Thank you to all of our awesome volunteers for your support and exhausting work. We really appreaciate all of you.

PetSmart right off of Ann Arbor Saline Rd. (2865 Oakvalley Dr. shopping plaza) in Ann Arbor has invited FMAR to come out the entire month of September on Thursday nights from 6-8 to show off a few of our adoptable pets. Please stop by and visit us!
Michigan Renaissance Festival – Pet Fest 2008. September 13th and 14th located at 12600 Dixie Highway Holly, MI 48442. We will have a booth and will be selling wands, halo’s, pet bandanas, yo-yo ballons, and T shirts. There will be pets, a parade and festival fun for the entire family. The hours would range from Monday - Saturday AM and PM (we can work something out fit to your schedule). FMAR is closed on Sunday for adoptions, but the animals still need to be cleaned, fed and loved. We would love to have a few dedicated volunteers on weekends to help take care of the animals. If you are interested in any of these volunteer oportunities and you are willing to commit at least 2-4 hours a week of your time to the care of the shelter animals, we would love to hear from you.
