Our Featured Pet...
Hello, I am
CRINKLE!
And here is my story...
Hi there. My name is "Crinkle" and I know I look kinda funny but can I tell you my story? I was rescued about 1 year ago from a not so nice pound on the outskirts of Detroit. I was rather dirty and had very bad fleas and a nasty cold. The nice lady from Affection Connection saw through my rough exterior and just knew underneath it all there was a kitty worth saving and she couldnt pass me up. I do remember that day like it was yesterday. You see, I had never been treated so kindly. I was what you would call a "hobo-kitty" or a "throw-away". For as long as I can remember I have always been outside and alone. Try as I might I just couldnt get any human to take a chance on me. I would see someone and run over and rub all over there legs and meow and meow and PURRRRRRRRRRR real loud! Most of you guys would shoo me away:( Sometimes I would get a treat such as a bit of hamburger or cheese if I was lucky. ) I would roam the streets and neighborhoods and peer into a window or two along the way. I would see other cats inside the home and see how handsome and fat they were and wonder why isn't that me? Why am I out here in the cold and they are all snug and warm in soft fleecey beds and sound asleep with smiles on their faces? Well, I figured it was my lot in life to be this way , all rough and smelly even though I sure did try to groom my fur and make it shine. It's kinda hard to keep up appearances when you gotta sleep in dirty boxes or a oily garage or dumpster. Oh, I am not complaining. I've had some pretty fun times chasing a mouse or two and pouncing on twirling fall leaves. But most times I was one lonely kitty longing for a nice home, catnip sock and human of my own. That's how I ended up at that icky pound. I was minding my own business and having a great daydream and alluvasudden I was snatched up and thrown in a cage on the back of a truck! Let me tell you, that was some rude awakening! Long story short I was in the worst place I could ever end up in! Not for long! Nancy came in, took one look at me, my sad situation and scooped me up & took me in her foster kitty program. I have to admit I was not thrilled at first. I GOT A B.A.T.H.!!!! Wow! That sure was a shock but I felt SOOOO darn good afterwards it was almost worth it! HEE! HEE! Ok, Ok, you want to get to the part on how I got to look like this? A terrible accident happened one early morning:( A fire started cuz of an faulty electrical cord. Yes, it was horrible and I got burned and so did some of my buddies. I really dont want to talk about that cuz it makes me very sad and scared and I just dont want to go there right now. I made it and I am doing just great!!!!! Alot of our stuff like food and equipment was burned up too and that made us all sad too. Do you think you guys can help us put things back together? Nancy & everyone else here is very sad cuz we lost so much and it is going to take alot of work and money to get things back to normal. Do you have it in your hearts to help a old crinkled up ole' guy like me and my friends here get back on our paws again? I didnt think miracles happen but you know what? They do! Just look at me! I have been blessed twice! Rescued from the streets and rescued from a fire!!! What are the odds!!! Well, they say cats have 9 lives but that just isn't true. Trust me! Please help with donations! Any amount helps!!! It is also TAX DEDUCTABLE!! Please send checks or money order to : Affection Connection 49701 Fairchild Road, Macomb MI 48042!! or press the PAYPAL button below to help us! I hear the folks at Affection Connection have only raised $100.00:( That pays for one cat to be spayed. PLEASE HELP!! I have to believe someone out there will help us??~~~ Love and purrs of hope... "CrinkleCat".
UPDATE!!! Crinkle has been adopted! That is great news however we still have the vet bills and not enough donations to help us pay them off. Please help and give what you can. We can't rescue as many cats and kittens as we have wanted to due to all of the overdue vet bills. Please donate what you can. Thank you !!!!!
* Did you know that some "rescue" leagues will "rescue" a mom cat and kittens and put the mom cat to sleep and only keep the kittens?! Some will only keep the "cute" or "pretty" kittens. PLEASE be careful who you contact to help in the rescue and placement of your cat or kitten! If you need to place a kitty or doggy please email us and we will try and help in any way we can.

Who We Are
We are a Non Profit, No Kill, Volunteer Run, Animal Adoption League. Affection Connection Rescue League or
ACRL for short, is often the only hope for a homeless, abandoned, sick or injured cat. We also help cats escape situations of abuse, neglect or imminent death. We see terribly sad cases, but happily many of them have positive outcomes, thanks to all the caring cat lovers who have adopted from us over the years.
We have so much to feel proud of:
We're "no-kill," and we mean exactly that.
Lifetime placements are our goal. Our foster home's careful screening gives us a less-than 1 % return rate.
What We Do
We do not have a shelter. Cats are housed in one of our foster homes to await their adoption, which is why foster homes are such an IMPORTANT part of ACRL'S program. Each foster home space that we have available represents one more cat that we can assist.
All of our volunteers are IMPORTANT, without foster homes and adoptions, we couldn't do our work.
We are also desperatly in need of donated items to help us to help the rescued animals, such as cat food, litter, blankets, washable cat beds and cages. All donations are tax deducatble and greatly appreciated.
