Who We Are
The Animal Refuge League is a private nonprofit animal shelter established in 1911. The vast majority of our funding comes through the generosity of the general public.
We think of ourselves first and foremost as an adoption agency. The ARL takes in over 4,000 stray, abandoned or owner surrendered animals each year.
Our goal is to care for them as humanely as possible until we can reunite them with their owners or until someone chooses to adopted them.
Our adoption process is very thorough in an effort to ensure that our animals are given a loving home for life.
