PETS OF THE MONTH

Our Dog of the Month for July is ...MARIO !

MARIO is a handsome male Boxer/Am Staff mix about 6 years old. He is not only handsome, but also a very loveable guy! Just looking at that great big "smile" - you cannot help but smile yourself. He is a favorite among many of the volunteers. He seems fine with most other dogs. Mario would make a great addition to any family. He loves to go for walks and walks well on the leash. When he first came into the shelter, he was very much under-weight, but with the love and care of the shelter staff and volunteers, he is getting back up to a healthy weight. Mario is a sweet guy who enjoyed his photo shoot with one of his friends at the shelter. As you can see from the photos, he has lots of patience and an easy-going personality - as he did not mind dressing up for the 4th of July at all! He must have known that he looked great in his patriotic outfit! :) Mario is wishing on a "star" that he will soon have a new family to call his very own. He will be "celebrating" with a "sparkle" in his eyes as he heads to his new home.

"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart." (Unknown)

Our Cat of the Month for July is ...MOSES !

My name is MOSES, and I am a male Tabby/white DSH. I am one very handsome 4 yr old gent who is just ready to leave these cage digs behind! Not enough room for me to stretch out; but then I do not want to stretch out here in a cage but more in my own home with a sun beam to keep me company. And YOU near by. I am medically up to date so please come soon to meet me. I would do best in a home without small children for I have only known a home with adults. P.S. - Please bring a large carrier for there is a lot of me to stretch out!

Are you interested in the veternarian/grooming/obediance training fields? Do you love animals? Please call the shelter/come on down and ask about volunteering! The minimum age requirement is 13 years old. Everything from laundry to yard work, to walking dogs, grooming, feeding, fostering, etc.... THE REWARDS ARE ENDLESS! THE LOVE RECEIVED IS UNCONDITIONAL! THE HAPPINESS YOU CAN BRING TO THE ANIMALS AND THAT YOU WILL FEEL IN YOUR HEART AT THE END OF THE DAY IS IMMEASUREABLE!

If we do not currently have what you are looking for, please leave your name and number (and an application) for future reference. We may also know of a shelter who may have what you are looking for. Please ask... ALL ANIMALS ARE SPAYED OR NEUTERED WHEN OLD ENOUGH - either prior to adoption, or you can purchase a spay/neuter certificate at the time of adoption, if the animal has not yet been spayed or neutered, for some reason.

ADOPTING A FRIEND

ADOPT A "BEST" FRIEND FOR LIFE!

"You picked me up and took me in when I was all alone...You gave me all that I could want: Your heart, your time, your home." (Peggy Corpeny)

HAPPY TAILS! :) ... Approximately 91 dogs were adopted from January through June and became someone's new "best friend". Of these 91, (14) were seniors, (2) were special needs and we also adopted (1) pair of dogs to the same home. A very special THANK YOU to those families who opened their homes and hearts to our seniors and special needs dogs!

Please take a moment and read "Charlotte's Story"... An inspiration to all - Miss Charlotte was a happy and brave girl until the very end. She touched the hearts of all who knew her. She was a wonderful example of the rewards of adopting senior pets and/or pets who are ill. It is with great sadness, that Miss Charlotte went to Rainbow Bridge the morning of 5/2/05.

Please also take a moment to read about our sweet Cocoa, who sadly also went to Rainbow Bridge on 7/7/07. Cocoa was also an inspiration to all and loved by all who knew him ....

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT DOGS OF ALL AGES NEED AND DESERVE HAPPINESS, LOVE,AND A HOME. IN RETURN, THEY WILL GIVE YOU UNCONDITIONAL LOVE FOR ALL YOUR YEARS TOGETHER...
