Please read first....
Thank you for your interest in Basset Hound Rescue. The first step to the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application via our web site. The application will come to us through our email and we will then contact you for a phone interview. The one thing that I like to tell people is that our process is not quick. We take our time with the screening, checking references and most importantly, the home inspection.
Please understand that it is very important to fill out the adoption application in detail and provide names and phone numbers of your veterinarian and local animal control officers.
Some people get frustrated with our process but the way we look at it is "
this is the dog's second chance" and we have to be sure that the dog and human's) will be a good match.

I look forward to receiving your application. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Sherri Ruffler; Adoption Coordinator

ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION

NEBHR is always looking for foster homes!!!

The more foster homes that are available helps enable NEBHR to place more hounds successfully. If there weren?t any foster homes, we would be forced to either kennel the dogs, or worse, leave them in a shelter. Foster homes provide an easier transition for the homeless dog before going to their forever home. Your home is much nicer than a cage in a shelter with hard cement floors. If you already have a Basset Hound, than you are probably well versed and experienced with the breed. Adding a Temporary foster to your home can be one of the most rewarding experiences.

ONLINE FOSTER HOME APPLICATION

NEBHR is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Everyone involved with NEBHR is on a volunteer basis only and members reside throughout New England. We receive no financial compensation for our efforts. Like you, we all have jobs outside the home, have families, and other important commitments. We do basset rescue because we want to help save homeless hounds and place them in good homes.

New England Basset Hound Rescue, Inc. is in always in need of foster homes throughout New England. We do not have a shelter that houses our rescue dogs, they live in our homes and are treated like a "member of our family".

This gives us a great opportunity to evaluate the dog in a "home setting." The hounds that we can't take into our foster program stay in their old homes or a shelter until we refer people that want to adopt in their direction. Thank you.

NEBHR, Inc. is registered in the State of New Hampshire. "NEBHR retains the exclusive right to investigate, approve or reject each applicant. Stringent criteria must be met by each applicant to insure that each dog is placed in an appropriate home. The placement of every dog with adoption owners remains within the sole discretion of NEBHR, and specific reasons for approval or rejection are not required."
