Our Featured Pet...
Who We AreThe Humane Society of Louisiana promotes the value of all animals and protects their interests through advocacy, education, litigation, investigations, and by providing housing, medical care and rehabilitation to victims of abuse. We are a hardworking, disciplined, organization that strives to increase the value of animals in our society by changing peoples' perceptions of their worth.I am the only member of this chapter located in Acadia parish and I stay busy with cruelty calls. I am asking the public for assisance at this time with a trap, alter and release program. This program will allow us to trap wild cats and have them spayed or neutered. We will then tip the ears of these cats so we will know which ones have been altered. We will then release them back into the wild where they cannot reproduce. This is the only way that we can ever get the wild pet overpopulation problem under control. I am asking the public to sponsor a cat for a $25 donation to assist with the cost. I am not state or federally funded and rely solely on the donations from the community. I am trying to raise $1500. To help in this important project you may mail your tax deductable donation to P.O. Box 697. Church Point LA. 70525. The Humane Society of LA - Acadia parish investigates in any parish that requests our help. I am asking you to please assist me by donating today. Traps are also needed on a loaner basis and we will be responsible for replacing any missing traps. Volunteers are needed to help transport these cats to the vet. I have been feeding these feral colonies and the number of feral cats in distress is almost unbelievable.Come Visit Us!
Every animal that is rescued is looking for a second chance to find the love and companionship of a wonderful home and owner. Please let me help you find that friend. We like to see an adoptive family visit a few times and also take the pet they choose for a sleep over to see how things work out. To set up arrangements to visit call Janet @ 337-654-4392. I would like to thank you for helping me make a difference in the lives of many animals. God bless you and thank you for visiting with us and we hope you can find a life long friend through adopting from a rescue. Have a wonderful day and we hope to see you soon. . I am in need of volunteers for fund raising efforts. I am also looking for someone who would be interested in assisting with our petfinder website. We recently lost a chocolate lab who was rescued out of a chicken coup without a door to exit. The chicken coup had to be lifted to remove the dog. She was between the ages of 8-10 the vet stated. She was abandoned without food or water for two weeke. The neighbor stepped in and reported it and helped with feeding. This dog was left to eat her own waste and was also neglected needing vet care. After her struggle to gain weight and because of the fact that she was very heart worm negative and was being treated with heart guard until she was strong enough to under go treatment. Gracie passed away Aug, 1st. Please keep in mind those animals that suffer and are neglected at this time through prayer. Report any abuse, even if you are not sure about what you see, we will assist you in any way we can.Janet
