FIVE YEARS!!!! Rafael and I celebrated our fifth year together in matrimonial bliss on November 16th!!! This year has been AWESOME! My husband and I want to thank everyone out there who does any kind of humane work. God bless you all whether you are crusaders of spaying and neutering or if you have merely adopted an animal instead of buying one. Our hats are off to you and your efforts! We know how hard it can be sometimes to keep your chin up, but do not despair, your efforts have not gone unnoticed! Keep up the good work out there and keep SPAYING and NEUTERING!!! Every time you do, you will help to save so many animal's lives. Stop and think about it....... if you allow your dog or cat have puppies or kittens, then every puppy or kitten you sell or give away means that another dog or cat that is in a shelter somewhere in your town will not get the chance to be adopted. Let us all STERILIZE to SAVE LIVES!!!!! As always I want to thank my awesomely wonderful husband, Dr. Rafael O'Halloran, for all the help and support he gives me in life and in rescuing animals. My thanks also goes out to our exceptional vets, Dr. Addison, Dr. Pooley, and our WONDERFUL staff for all that they do for the clinic and for our adoptable pets. Sincerely, Christy

Our Featured Pet...

(CLICK ON THE LINK ABOVE (JUST BELOW OUR NAME) TO SEE PICTURES AND PROFILES OF ALL THE PETS WE HAVE FOR ADOPTION) ******Our featured pet is Martina. Martina is about one year old and is a terrier mix. She is full grown at about 20 pounds, is spayed, up to date on shots, negative for heartworms and on heartworm preventative. Martina started life VERY rough. A man called me one day and said he saw a puppy get thrown out of a car window. He stopped to pick her up and brought her home. Unfortunately, his home did not turn out to be much better than her first. He kept Martina in a small pen and did not feed or water her regularly. After a while she started to break out of her pen and run around on my father's farm. The migrant farm workers made friends with her, fed her bits of their lunches and gave her the name "Martina." Martina developed mange and quickly became mostly hairless. My father asked the man to please let me take the dog. The man finally agreed to let me take her. Martina is very well behaved in a carrier in a vehicle. She didn't whine or bark or vomit! She seems to be a VERY INTELLIGENT dog and LOVES to be with people. She is very playful and needs a really, really, really, good, permanent ,forever home! Please give us a call today to come by and meet Martina in person! 504-362-8060

Who We Are

Aurora Animal Hospital is a veterinary hospital, run by caring veterinarians. It has always been my own and my husband's dream to one day run our own animal adoption center. Now our dream is taking shape. Animals come to the hospital in different ways. Some of our pets have been brought to us by clients, some come to us by way of the SPCA and, heck, some of them Rafael and I stop and pick up off the side of the road ourselves! We go to great lengths to care for these animals properly, including major surgery when necessary. We make sure our animals are in good health, sterilized ("fixed") and up to date with vaccinations before being offered for adoption. Thank you for considering adoption when considering a new pet! Christy & Dr. Rafael O'Halloran

Adopting a friend

In order to adopt a new pet (or old, ha ha), you must first come in to fill out an adoption application (or we can fax one to you). You can also call to speak with Christy.

Come Visit Us!

Please stop by to fill out an application, Monday through Friday, 8am till 6pm, or Saturday from 8am till 1pm. Please note, though, adopting our pets may take a little time since we want to make sure we get the best match between pet and owner. Some adoptable animals may not be able to go home with you the same day as adoption because all of our pets must be spayed/neutered and medically cared for before being released to new owners. We are located at 565 Holmes Blvd. on the Westbank.
