The Frazzled Ferret Organization is a member of Support Our Shelters and The Ferret Store.com's Shelter bucks program!! Haven't heard of these? Well you're missing out! Both of these organizations do great things for ferret shelters and if you donate through Support Our Shelters your contribution is tax deductible! Also as most people are not aware most ferret shelters are privately run and get little more than adoption fees to cover costs, receiving no state, federal or even local funding. So please donate to a local shelter in your area, believe me all shelters appreciate every penny.
Who We Are
The Frazzled Ferret Organization is a not for profit organization located in the Shreveport/Bossier City Area of Louisiana. Our organization takes in unwanted, abused, and neglected ferrets. We also take in ferrets for many others reasons for which the current owner can simply no longer care for them properly. We serve just about any area for adoptions and surrenders that is within driving distance. We have gone as far south as New Orleans, west into Texas, and north into Arkansas. We are always taking in ferrets and almost always have ferrets for adoption. We provide all of the ferrets in our care with proper vaccinations, medical care and ADV testing provided by Dr. Snyder at Bossier City Animal Hospital. We highly recommend this vet for anyone seeking a vet in our area for ferrets or just about everything else. Our organization was started in the wake of Hurricane Katrina due to the lack of available shelters for ferrets in the area. There were enough ferrets warranting a need of a shelter so my friend and I looked at each other and said, we'll do it!, already being ferret owners ourselves. Since then we have set up a system for surrender and adoption. Each ferret is adopted out with an extensive contract, home visit and comes with it's own assessment and medical folder.
Adopting a friend
If you are interesting in adopting a ferret, becoming a new ferret owner, surrendering a ferret, volunteering or becoming part of our foster network please contact us through email or you can even contact us directly by phone. It is checked frequently and we will get back with you as soon as possible, usually withing 48 hours. Or if you just have any general questions about ferrets or our organization you can contact us on that too! Our adoption process includes an adoption form that must be completed in full and signed in our presence as well as a home visit. Our adoption fee is $70.00 for a ferret under 3 years of age and $60.00 for a ferret over 3 years old. All of our ferrets come with a health folder including all medical care they received while at the shelter as well as proof of rabies and distemper shots and ADV blood test results.
