Who We Are:

LAPAW works to provide a SECOND CHANCE for homeless,orphaned, abused, and neglected companion animals. We have found homes for hundreds of animals. We are looking for new members who would like to help with our attempts to improve the lives of local animals. Are you interested in becoming a foster parent or just want to help in some other manner? Come by and talk to us at Petsmart on Saturdays. We welcome the chance to speak with people interested in helping animals.

How We Operate:

Our group is made up of Lake Area residents who by working together to raise funds have committed to helping homeless dogs receive a second chance at finding a home. We operate by holding fundraisers and receiving donations and donations are gratefully appreciated and tax deductable. We are not part of any publicly run facility so we do not receive funds except those that we are able to raise.. Your donations are used to rescue animals, provide vaccinations, heartworm treatments, heartworm preventative, spay/neuter, buy dog food and much, much more!! None of our group receives compensation for the work that we do. Please help us rescue those dogs in the Lake Area in need of help. We can not continue to do what we do without the public being supportive of us.

We do not have a phsyical shelter to house our animals. All of our animals are housed in our own homes. We currently do not have the space for any more fosters at this time. Please do not contact us if you are attempting to get rid of an unwanted pet. We get our fosters from the public shelters before they are put to death.

Please come to Petsmart for adoptions each Saturday from 12-4. We are there with our foster dogs who are looking for their new forever loving families.

We have discount coupons for low-cost spay/neuter with some local vets. If you are interested in getting one of these please come by Petsmart and speak to one of us. We will be happy to give you one

Volunteer Information and News:

If you are interested in volunteering with us, Please attend one of our monthly meetings or come by Petsmart on a Saturday. Our meetings are on the last Monday of every month, the location will be posted in the newspaper. You can contact us to speak to your civic group about our accomplishments and goals for the Lake Area. It only takes a few people to make a small difference, just image if Lapaw had a larger membership with more community participation. If you don't have time to volunteer or make a donation, you can help us out by just simply telling everyone you know about us.

Our adoption fees:

Our pet adoption fees are $100.00 for mixed breed dogs and usually $150.00 for the pure breeds. These fees go toward the health check done by a local vet, the yearly shots, the rabies shot, and the altering of the animals. If an animal has been found to be heart worm positive we get that treatment for the animal and make sure that it is healthy before you adopt it. We do ask for an additional $45 to cover half of the cost for the treatment of our animals that have received extensive medical treatments.
