"To Know Us Is To Love Us - Pit Bulls"
News
H E L P ! We have recently taken in three dogs that have required extensive medical needs. We know with gas prices there isn't much left over in the family budget but if you can spare a little change it will go a long way to help us help the pit bulls.
Their stories: MAMA MIA was found walking down a four lane highway the day before Thanksgiving last year. She was underweight but obvioiusly very pregnant. She delivered pupppies the day after Thanksgiving. All of her puppies have been adopted. Her health has been touch and go since then due to a heavy load of heartworms. She had to be rushed to LSU in May due to heart failure. She was stablized and began heartworm treatment in an effort to save her life. During the course of treatment she had to be rushed to an ER clinic for trouble breathing. We are happy to report that Mana Mia received her final treatment the first of August and is expected to make a full recovery.
Bruno was brought in to an area Vet clinic for throwing up. It was determined that he had PARVO. His owners planned to put him down. We just couldn't let that happen to this sweet boy. They surrendered the dog to APBT Rescue and he received treatment. He was hospitalized for nearly 2 weeks but I'm happy to say he is a happy and healthy puppy now.
Dolly was rescued off the streets of Baton Rouge where she had been roaming for some time. She had a prolapsed vagina. We brought her in to rescue, spayed her hoping it was hormonal and the vagina would correct itself. That did not happen so Dolly had to undergo reconstructuve surgery and a biopsy. If the biopsy results are negative Dolly will then be treated for heartworms before she can be adopted out. She too is a high positive.
Each of these babies were in great need when they came to us. Please help us help them. They greatly appreciate it. Donations can me made to: APBT Rescue, Inc. PO Box 87232, Baton Rouge, LA 70879

Who We Are
American Pit Bull Terrier Rescue, Inc. (APBTR) is an all-volunteer group of individuals dedicated to the rescue and prevention of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of these beautiful, loyal, and fun-loving dogs. Non-profit status pending.
Adopting a friend
Our adoption process begins with an application, followed by call to the Vet reference on the application, and lastly, a home visit to where the dog will be living. Once approved, you will be asked to sign a contract and an adoption fee will be collected. Our adoption fee is not a sale price but a dontation to help offset the medical expenses incurred in getting the dog healthy and ready for adotion. All of our dogs are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, tested and treated as necessary for heartworms and intestinal parasites, and are given monthly heartworm prevention and flea protection.
Come Visit Us!
