Who We AreThe Danville-Boyle County Humane Society provides a haven for homeless and unwanted animals and strives to educate both children and adults about the importance of responsible pet ownership. Through humane education, adoptions of homeless animals and encouraging spaying and neutering of pets, we work toward the day when permanent, loving homes are available for all dogs and cats. Adopting a FriendAdopting from the DBCHS means giving a home to a dog or cat who needs one while at the same time adding a loving, playful, energetic member to your family. The adoption fee of $75 per animal includes the spay/neuter surgery, first vaccinations (including rabies) and de-worming. All adoptable cats have been feline leukemia tested. Because spay\neuter surgery is mandatory for all animals adopted from the DBCHS, we schedule the surgery at the time of adoption and take the animal to the veterinarian's office for the procedure. Your pet is ready to go home in 1 to 2 days. Pets adopted on Fridays and Saturdays are ready to go home in 3 to 4 days. We offer a free obedience session for all dog adopters, and an additional six-week-long class is available for $35. The free sessions are held monthly. Call our shelter for more information. Volunteering and DonationsIf you'd like to volunteer or send a donation, here is our address: Come Visit Us!We're open from 8:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. We're located in Danville on the Hwy. 150-127 bypass beside the Danville-Boyle County Fairgrounds. Coming from Lexington, take Hwy. 27 until Hwy. 34 turns to the right toward Danville. Follow 34 through town until you reach the fourth stoplight (Maple Avenue). Turn left on Maple Avenue; then right at the first stoplight (Main Street-Perryville Road). Follow this road to the first stoplight (Hwy. 150-127 bypass). Turn right on the bypass and the shelter will be about a mile on the right, up on a hall, directly across from 84 Lumber. You'll see a large green highway sign that says Danville-Boyle County Humane Society.
