Who We Are
MidAmerica Border Collie Rescue exists for the dual purposes of breed rescue and placement, and public education. Our goal is to rescue homeless and abandoned Border Collies and Border Collie mixes, accepting such dogs from shelters, owners, and other caretakers, especially in the states of Indiana, Illlinois, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan. We provide temporary foster care for necessary physical and behavioral rehabilitation, including spaying/neutering, and place dogs carefully in homes or situations where they will be understood and cared for as the active, intelligent dogs that they are.
We strive to educate owners and potential owners about the needs of these fine but often misunderstood dogs, using our knowledge and experience of the BC personality and temperament, as well as our familiarity with the special needs of Border Collies and BC mixes.
We commit ourselves to cooperate with municipal and private shelters, to reduce the irresponsible breeding of Border Collies and BC mixes by supporting the altering of non-breeding stock and pet quality BCs and BC mixes. We work to reduce euthansia and enhance the adoption of Border Collies and BC mixes in shelters by raising awareness of the physical and behavioral characteristics of the breed.
