WE ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF DONATIONS TO TREAT ALL THE INCOMING DOGS WITH HEARTWORM. HEARTWORM TREATMENT RUNS BETWEEN $350-$550 IN THIS AREA, even $5.00 or $10.00 would be beneficial in their treatment. If you do not have your dogs on heartworm preventative, please have them tested and placed on preventative, it WILL save your dogs life.
We are alo in desperate need of foster homes. Please consider opening your home and heart to a deserving boxer needing a second chance today. All medical expenses are paid by the rescue. You, as a foster home, provide love, food, and care for the boxer. Foster homes must complete a background check, home visit, application and provide vet references.

**All Boxers are spayed or neutered prior to placement, up-to-date on their shots, on Hearworm preventative. We also treat for known illnesses or medical problems prior to placement.**
Who We Are
BlueGrassBoxer Rescue is dedicated to finding and placing boxers that are owner surrenders, abused or abandoned that end up in the local kill shelters in Kentucky and surrounding counties of Indiana. We are not funded by any organizations, we receive no government funds, only donations from individuals, such as yourself. Donations can be made by credit card to the vets listed at: BlueGrass Boxer Rescue or mailed directly to BlueGrass Boxer Rescue, PO Box 21134, Owensboro, KY 42304-1134.
Boxers are very people oriented and do not do well in a shelter or kennel situation, they need to be with people and part of a family routine. Once pulled, they are brought up-to-date on all shots, spayed or neutered, checked out by the vet, treated for any known medical problems including heartworm and placed into foster homes. By being part of the family in their foster home, we can gather more information about the dog to aid in placement and transitioning, does it like to play in the trash, does it jump on the furniture, does it want to sleep in the bed, lay on the couch, want to dart out open doors, like to play with other dogs or just be by your side, etc. By considering a rescue, they are normally out of puppyhood, they are housetrained, crate trained, started on basic OB, have developed house manners, more well behaved.
Adopting a friend
Adopting a boxer is an easy procedure which starts with the On-Line Application or email us and we will forward to you. After filling out the application, a representative will get in touch with you either by phone or email. Then a time will be scheduled for a short home visit with the entire family (including all pets). The dog that you are interested in may accompany the representative on the home visit. We like for all family members to be present to interact with the boxer, we want everyone (including your pets) to feel comfortable including the rescued boxer. We try very hard to find just the right boxer to become a member of your family. Once everything is in order, and we have found your new family member we will schedule a time for the most important day for the rescued boxer, ADOPTION DAY. At this time, we will go over the adoption contract, get the required signatures, pay adoption fee, and bring new family member home. Please be prepared for the adoption day in advance, please have ready: bedding, feeding dishes, collar and leash, crate (if necessary), a good premium dog food (we feed Wellness, by feeding a good premium food you will feed less food, and have less waste to pick up, more economical in the long run).
