Please note that our Petfinder site is rarely a complete list of all of our adoptable pets. If you do not see a pet listed that seems like "the one", do not hesitate to visit us anyway... or at the very least, check our listings often! Featured Pet!

Pierre (click) has been with us since June. He is 4 years old but full of love to give. He gets along well with other dogs, likes to go for walks, and is just a steady, loyal companion. He's tired of being here and is wondering where in the world his forever home is, and what is taking them so long to come bust him loose?? Are you the one he's been waiting all this time for?

Goals/Mission Statement
Metro Animal Services was established by Jefferson County Fiscal Court in accordance with the Kentucky Revised Statutes. Its mission is to provide services that safeguard the public health and safety, to humanely house and care for animals in its charge, to protect the animals of the community from abuse and neglect and to provide its citizens with information concerning responsible ownership.Responsibility of Our Organization
Our organization provides care and control of animals within the county including all cities and municipalities, enforces animal control laws, maintains a kennel facility for stray, unwanted or abandoned animals, operates a quarantine facility, and sells licenses for cats and dogs. What We Do
We employ 16 Animal Control Officers who, in an average year, investigate over 20,000 complaints that range from excessive barking to severe inhumane treatment. The officers, combined, drive over 225,000 miles a year covering the 375 square miles that encompasses Jefferson County. Officers are on duty 7 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including holidays.Adopting a friend
Although the main purpose of the Division is to enforce animal control laws, it also tries to help lost or unwanted pets find new homes. Adoptable animals can be seen at the Animal Control shelter at 3705 Manslick Road. Even if the featured animals are no longer available, please remember that there are many other pets waiting for new homes.Come Visit Us!
