I'm not sure if he's a true manx, or just lost part of his tail.
WHO WE ARE
The Chanute Animal Control Department is a service provided by the City of Chanute, Kansas. The department is staffed by Officer Bill Penner, and is dedicated to animal safety and health, public safety, and owner education. The Animal Shelter is usually open between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. We are open one Saturday per month, and one evening per week on a rotating basis. Call 620-431-5249 for details.
ADOPTING A NEW FRIEND
PLEASE NOTE: Out of state/long distance adoptions are wonderful! However, we do ask that you come to Chanute to meet and/or pick up your pet. Pets are not "shipped" to adopters that they (and we) have never met. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
Dog adoption is $92, with a refund of $80 after completion of MANDATORY spay/neuter and rabies immunization.
Cat adoption is $67, with a refund of $55 after completion of MANDATORY spay/neuter and rabies immunization.
All veterinary procedures are the responsibility of the adopter, and may be performed at any licensed veterinary clinic.

VOLUNTEERING
Shelter volunteers are not needed at this time, however an Events/Publicity Coordinator would be appreciated to plan events such as Tag Day, pet fairs etc.
DONATIONS
While the Chanute Animal Shelter is municipally funded, and does not actively solicit donations, contributions are accepted and will be used to provide those "extras" not provided by the regular budget. Donations of towels, blankets, treats, rawhide and other chews are always welcome.
COME VISIT US!
The Animal Shelter is located at the east end of 9th street, behind the water treatment plant. Dogs have indoor / outdoor kennels, and can be viewed at any time during the business day. To see the cats, or meet with Officer Penner, make an appointment by calling 620-431-5249
DRIVING DIRECTIONS
The shelter is located at the east end of 9th street, behind the Water Treatment Plant.
Two blocks north of Sonic, turn east on 9th street (by Daylight Donuts) and drive until 9th ends at the gate to the water plant. Enter the gate, and follow the driveway around the back side of the large water plant building.
