Who We Are
The Terre Haute Humane Society is dedicated to providing stray and abandoned animals with a safe temporary home until a new loving family can be found. Our success with adoption and collaboration with many other shelter and rescue groups, has enabled us to reduce euthanasia from 84% in 2000 to less than 20% in 2007. Our goal is to be able to find homes for every adoptable animal in our care. We are a non-profit organization, which means that your continued donations enable us to continue working toward this goal.
Please DONATE by using the following link to paypal, any amount will help! Donating through paypal is safe and secure!
Or you may mail your donation directly to the Terre Haute Humane Society, POB 3307, Terre Haute, IN 47803. Donations are tax deductible.
Adopting a friend
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please stop by to visit and fill out an application. If you do not live in the Terre Haute area, please feel free to contact us by phone or e-mail and we can fax or e-mail you an application!
The fee for adopting a dog is $115.00, puppy $125. This includes their spay/neuter, first vaccinations (not including rabies), worming, identification tag and microchip, ears cleaned, nails trimmed, first office visit at participating Veterinary Offices, and one month of Shelter Care pet insurance free when you enroll. Some select animals may have special adoption fees.
The fee for adopting a cat or kitten is $85.00. This includes their spay/neuter, first vaccination (not including rabies), worming, identification tag and microchip, ears cleaned, nails trimmed, first office visit at participating Veterinary Offices, and one month of Shelter Care pet insurance free when you enroll.
With an adoption you have the option of having your other family pets microchipped for $25.
Micro chipping is also available to the public for $35 per animal. Micro chipping improves the odds of your lost pet being returned to you! Many homeless animals lose their tags, and since they do not have a pocket for a wallet, they have no way to identify themselves!
Rescue
Other shelters and rescues throughout the midwest are helping us find good homes for strays in Vigo County, IN. We need homes to "foster" these animals for a few days to a week or two, to get them out of the shelter until they can go on a transport to Rescue. If you are interested in fostering an animal until we can send it to a rescue, or would be willing to foster puppies or kittens, please call 232- 0293 and ask for Sharon.
Hours of Operation
Our operating hours are: Tuesday through Friday from 12pm until 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from Noon until 4 p.m. We are always closed to the public on Mondays. To learn more about us, please visit our website at http://www.thhs.org
Want to Help?
