Our Lil Bit of Heaven Animal Rescue and Sanctuary
Wow what a year 2008 was for OLBH! Glad it's over? You bet! Yet, throuh everything this rescue went through we were blessed with a faithful crew of volunteers that stayed with us every step of the way and worked very hard. Met several new folks that helped us in our times of need, some that have stayed on as "new" faithful volunteers! In the time of the flooding disaster, folks stepped up to foster our furry kids and lots of them decided to adopt those fosters. Big blessing for those lucky babies! We relocated, still in progress but leaps and bounds of progress have been made. Again thanks to our volunteers and the wonderful folks who made both monetary and item donations to OLBH. As we all know, the economy is bad. It isn't only making life hard for the human species but, all the animals too. Owner surrenders are up, dumps are up, adoptions and donations are down. Those just don't balance out. Our goal here at OLBH is to stand fast against this monster and continue to take care of those who cannot take care of themselves. But, we need your help! Monetary donations are obviously ALWAYS needed, our item list of needs is further down the page but, we also need VOLUNTEERS. Would you spend an hour or two a couple days a week to choose one dog, take them for a walk, brush them, play w/them? These furry kids would surely love to have your company and you would be helping them to become better adoption possibilities by socializing w/them. A little bit of gas (which is a lot lower than it has been) and your time is all it takes to make life a bit better every time you visit for one of these kids. It will brighten yours too, I guarantee it. The appreciation they show when you spend time with them is "priceless" and you walk away a little lighter in your step feeling a bit better about life.
New to our Website
Each of our adoptable kids has their very own SPONSOR ME button on their bios now! You can choose one, two or as many of them as you like and specifically donate money for their care while they are with the rescue, their adoption fee etc. for those of you who love the critters but, cannot adopt.
OLBH News Updates!
1/4/09 The electric wiring is in and most of the flourescents are hung with a temporary hook up. But, we've ran into a "snag" with the county when I requested the electrical inspection be done for REMC to hook us up to the pole. ANYONE AN ATTORNEY OR KNOW AN ATTORNEY WHO WOULD PROBONO SOME TIME FOR US????
12/20 As stated below we've gotten all of the animals moved to our new location here in Poland. Our bestest buddy, Joe has ran the water to the new kennel making life easier for this old broad. Insulation needs finished in the kennel and heat source. Anyone with a bit of knowledge in these areas your help would sure be appreciated! We're still moving things from our old place too and could use help with that. And we need some ideas on what to put in as ground cover for where the excavation for the kennel was done and left a HUGE mud clay mess for the dogs and I to walk in. Along with those ideas any ideas or leads on getting the supply donated would also be much appreciated.
12/1 Thanks to SO MANY volunteers, all of our furry kids and our Director, Joyce, are finally located at our new Poland site! THANK YOU, FAITHFUL VOLUNTEERS!!! There is still alot left to do, though! We have lots of stuff to move from Martinsville to Poland, and still some things (like fencing and insulation and ground barrier) yet to do in Poland. If you can help, please call Joyce at 765-712-0036. Our new Poland address is 4259 Mangus Rd, Poland, IN 47868.
