Who We Are

We are a small 501(c)3 animal advocacy organization located in rural southeast Indiana in Switzerland County. We have concentrated our efforts on spay/neuter assistance.

Membership

Dues for membership in SFA are: $10 per year individual; $15 per year family; and $100 lifetime individual. All membership dues are tax deductible.

Current Events

SFA's Plant Sale the first week of May was a successful fundraiser. Our next fundraiser will be participating in the Community Wide Yard Sale on June 28. If you have any saleable items you would like to donate to SFA, please drop them off at our office at 105 W. Pike St. in Vevay. Our office hours are 9AM to Noon weekdays. If you would like to volunteer to help that day, give us a call at 427-2700 for more details.

Spay/Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP)

Swiss Friends of Animals has a spay/neuter assistance program for county residents who need financial assistance to have their dogs or cats spayed or neutered. Grant funding from Switzerland County Community Foundation, Switzerland County United Fund, Switzerland County Council, and a national grant from the DJ&T Foundation make this program possible. County residents who need assistance to have their dog or cat spayed or neutered can contact 812-427-2700 for more information.

Doghouse Exchange Program

If you have a useable doghouse that you no longer use or need, consider donating it to SFA's "Doghouse Exchange", where it will be matched with a needy dog in Switzerland County. Your donation is tax deductible. Call 812-427-2700 for more information.

If you need assistance with providing your dog a more substantial shelter, call 812-427-2700 to see what houses are available.

Switzerland County Animal Shelter

In the fall of 2007 the Switzerland County Animal Shelter opened and SFA re-directed our Adoption Rescue Foster program to assist the new shelter in these areas. The shelter can be reached at 812-534-3090.

If you would like to volunteer as a rescue transport driver, call the shelter or SFA for more details. Transports are typically to Seymour or Scottsburg on early Saturday mornings, or to Indianapolis Animal Care and Control the first or second Thursday morning of each month.
