Latest News
As mentioned above, Snowbird is taking a little break. Rescue has taken it's toll and she is in need of a little R&R and sunshine. But she will be back before you can say "summertime".
Even with Snowbird on a break, Cap'n Ray from Illinois Heart Bandits continues to help us with our renovating and remodeling at the Eskie Ranch. But it is a long slow process hampered as always by lack of time and lack of funds.
Our good news is that we have had a merger of sorts. Illinois Heart Bandits and Snowbird Eskie Rescue are becoming American Eskimo Dog Rescue Ranch at Walnut Hill. Our two chapters will remain open and as always we will be loyal Heart Bandits members. But we have managed to merge our Eskie population into one. So any Eskie on either Petfinder site, IN152 or IL409 can be adopted from either chapter.
Eventually we will both retire to Walnut Hill Farm where we will continue to rescue needy Eskies and open a sanctuary for senior Eskies to live out their remaining years. Stay tuned for more news as it happens.
Who We Are
We are Snowbird Eskie Rescue chapter of Heart Bandits American Eskimo Dog Rescue. We cover Southern Indiana, Southeastern Illinois, and Kentucky. Heart Bandits Inc. is a national not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to rescuing American Eskimo dogs or "Eskies". Our dogs come from owner surrenders, shelters, humane societies, and other all breed rescue groups. We work closely with other Heart Bandits chapters nationwide. We are a member of the Spencer County Humane Society. We also work with animal control, shelters and humane societies in our area.
All of our work is voluntary. Our reward comes from the love and affection given to us by our dogs, and the joy of seeing them sent off to deserving families. Unfortunately that doesn't pay the bills for dog food, medicines, vet care, transportation, etc. Funding is always a problem. Our expenses are only partially offset by our adoption fees. Therefore any donations however small are always appreciated. Donations can be made via Paypal to louise@snowbirdeskierescue.org.
Adopting a friend
Adoptive families must complete a Heart Bandits application available on request or at www.heartbandits.com ; provide a vet reference; and agree to a home visit. Our adoption fee is $200.00 for an adult. Puppies are $250 due to increased vet care and extra socialization given. Reduced fees are possible in certain circumstances. For your fee you will receive a happy, healthy pet which has been spayed/neutered, current on all rabies and annual shots, behavior and temperment tested, heartworm negative, and individually matched just for you. And, of course, all the Eskie hugs and kisses you can handle ...... priceless.

Where We Are
We are located in the gently rolling hills of Southern Indiana near the unique town of Santa Claus. Our dogs enjoy the fresh air, sunshine, and privacy of our rural area at their very own Reskie Resort. Our facility is not open to the public at this time.
