The Humane Society of Putnam County Animal Shelter provides shelter and care for more than 1300 dogs and cats each year. We provide the necessary food, water, a clean place to live, and daily exercise for the animals in our care, as well as providing as much love and socialization as possible. Our goal is to find homes for as many of these animals as possible.
**HSPC Animal Shelter is a receiving agency only. We do not provide animal control services**.
Our shelter is always in need of volunteers to help exercise and socialize our animals. If you love animals and you have an hour or two to spare, we would love to meet you. Additional volunteer opportunities are available for receptionist and maintenance activities. Please call or stop by today!
We are a 501-c-3 charity and all donations are tax deductable. Monetary donations are used directly for the care of the animals. Non-monetary donations of collars, blankets, toys and food are also greatly appreciated.
| We have chosen Kuranda dog beds for our boarding facilities because they are so good for our dogs. If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort, please click here. |
Adoptions from our facility always include vaccinations (except the rabies vaccine in accordance with Indiana law), heartworm testing for dogs over 6 months old, Feline leukemia and "aids" testing for cats over 6 months old, free vet visit with a local participating veterinarian, microchipping for dogs, and for unaltered animals, a spay/neuter certificate covering the mandatory spay/neuter with a local participating veterinarian. Please visit our website for current adoption prices.
We are located just east of Greencastle, IN. on SR 240.
We are open Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday from 12-5 pm. Special appointments may also be arranged.
