Who We Are
Sheltie Rescue of Central Indiana, Inc. (SRCI) is a group of caring volunteers dedicated to finding homes for abused and abandoned Shetland Sheepdogs. Since 1994, over 480 dogs have been received and fostered in or adopted to loving homes.

WANTED: A few good, permanent homes...
If you believe you can offer one, please read through this entire page. It will tell you what we look for in potential homes and answer many of the questions you may have about adopting a sheltie from Sheltie Rescue of Central Indiana, Inc. (SRCI).
As you work through the adoption process, please understand that our first and PRIMARY concern is the happiness and welfare of the shelties in our care, and in placing them into loving, permanent homes. We work to match each sheltie to the appropriate environment and lifestyle necessary for keeping her happy and healthy. Because our adoption process is designed to identify these homes, it may take 1-3 weeks to work through your application.
SRCI does not have a shelter facility where all the dogs are kenneled in one location. Our shelties are housed in private, caring volunteer foster homes throughout the state. We ask that you submit an application first, and once you are approved to adopt, we will suggest a few shelties that match your desires and would fit into your home and lifestyle. Then you may make arrangements with the foster caregiver to meet the sheltie. Please respect our advice and knowledge of the shelties' personality. The fact that we know the individual sheltie, and his personality, quirks and drives is one of the greatest benefits that you gain from adopting a sheltie from SRCI. Regretfully we don't have the resources to do out of state adoptions, so we only adopt to residents of Indiana.

Foster Homes Wanted:
Economic troubles across Indiana have led more families to say goodbye to their beloved Shelties and leave them in the care of overburdened rescue groups and shelters. Without foster homes, we will be forced to turn away more shelties in need. Take the opportunity to give our beloved Shelties a chance for a better life. You can help by giving them nurturing temporary homes until we find that perfect, loving, "forever" home that each one deserves. We need qualified people to foster these wonderful Shelties.
