Clay County Animal Shelter

Behavior problems account for the leading cause of owner relinquishment of pets and resulting euthanasia - we all know it and numerous studies confirm it. Often pet parents just need some help in dealing with the issues they are facing. PETVIDEO.COM can help. Petvideo.com, created by the founders of Petfinder.com and Petsincredible, provides free online training clips. We encourage you to click on the Animal Planet Pet Video box below and view the same positive, reward-based training advice featured on the award winning PetsIncredible DVDs – TRAINING YOUR ADOPTED DOG and YOUR ADOPTED CAT.

Our Featured Pet...

The Lab was originally pure black and was bred to work in the water, which is why it has a water-repellent coat and webbed feet. It has become one of the most popular companion dogs, especially among owners of sport utility vehicles. It is one of the world's best family dogs and can be kept under almost any conditions because it is so sensitive, adaptable and imperturbable. Call the Steve Conrad at the Clay County Animal Shelter for a time to see this handsome boy!

Who We Are

The Clay County Animal Shelter of Louisville, IL rescues dogs and cats from all over Clay County.

Adopting a friend

The adoption fee is $25 and you must sign a contract stating that you will have the animal spayed/neutered and microchipped. We work closely with a rescue organization called "Fur A Good Paws" and if you are unable to pay for the full cost of spaying/neutering, "Fur A Good Paws" will pay up to $100 toward the procedure. Also "Fur Babies", here in Louisville, will bathe the animal one time for free!

Come Visit Us!

The Clay County Animal Shelter is located at 14400 Hwy. 45 in Louisville, IL. The Animal Shelter is open by appointment or on a call-ahead basis. If the Animal Control Officers, Steve Conrad or Vince Scara, are there when you call you are more than welcome to stop in. This will eliminate people from driving long distances and then finding out that the officer is out on a call. We now have message cards outside on which anyone who stops by the shelter can leave a message for the Animal Control Officer and he will respond as soon as he can. The Clay County Animal Shelter is located approximately 100 miles east of St. Louis, MO or 100 miles west of Evansville, IN.
