Jade is in need of medical care. She was last seen wearing a matching collar/leash that is red and white with hearts on it.
If anyone sees Jade, please contact our rescue at 708.426.3059 or email: Cause4Paws@gmail.com. You can also contact the Lockport Police Dept. at 815.838.2131
Update 11/16/08: Jade has recently been seen in the possession of the thief in the 1000 block of Washington in Lockport, IL...and the area of 106th and Central in Chicago Ridge, IL.
Please help us get Jade back so she can get the medical attention she needs! This dog has been through HELL!
Jade is a 1.5 year old Pit Bull mix that we unexpectedly took into our rescue on 10/25/08 after a tragic turn of events. Jade and another dog were loose and both were hit by a car in front of Jennifer's rural home (she is one of our foster homes).
The Rott mix that Jade was with was killed in the accident and Jade was badly injured. Jennifer rushed Jade to the emergency vet.
At this point we did not know who the dogs belonged to. We later found out that the owner is in California living in a place where pets are not allowed while her husband is deployed to Iraq.
She left Jade in the care of someone here and Jade and the other dog (not owned by Jade's owner) got loose. They cannot have the dog where they live nor can they afford the enormous medical bills for this so they reluctently signed Jade over to us so that we can do what is in her best interest.
Jade spent the night at the emergency vet on morphine until we could get her to our vet today (10/26/08). The ER vet closed a huge gash on one of her hind legs and tended to numerous patches of road rash.
She was transferred to our vet first thing Sunday and they did Xrays and determined that both hind legs are broken. One has a small bone in the foot broken and the vet said it will heal on it's own. The other leg is shattered in many pieces.
After consulting with the vet, we decided she stands a better chance if the leg is amputated rather than trying to put the many tiny fragments back together.
As you can imagine, our bill is mounting. The ER vet bill was over $500.00 and the bill at our vet is climbing as I type.
**UPDATE: 10/28/08** Jade is doing well after the amputation but will be staying at the vet for a couple more days to keep an eye on her. Our vet bills thus far are in excess of $1,300.00.

**UPDATE: 11/2/08** Jade is doing GREAT! She gets around fine, is well-behaved, housebroken, loves everyone! Jade is in a temp foster home and needs a more permanent one within the next two weeks,...or a Furever home!

Romeo is a 4 & 1/2 month old (as of 11/01/08), brindle and white Boxer mix. He is going to be a big boy. He is very sweet and was wonderful on the car ride home, just stretched across the front seat of my truck, napping. He is fabulous and I love him! On August 28th, 2008 our rescue began working a Humane Case. We found ourselves answering a call for help in a community that is beyond poor and very uneducated about proper care for animals.
Someone contacted us because the owner of these animals is in the hospital in a coma (brain cancer) and is not going to recover. They are reaching out for help for his animals and that is where we come in.
They have several mixed breed dogs of varying ages as well as at least 6 pups that are about 8 weeks old. None of them have ever seen a vet, most have never been handled and all have lived outdoors to fend for themselves.
We took a horse (Pogo) from them that is about 100 lbs underweight and has several minor issues but it all costs money!
It is a very sad situation....
They are allowing us to take the dogs a couple at a time. We took two puppies (Zala & Tucker) and upon closer evaluation, we discovered they were terribly flea infested, full of internal parasites and have skin problems. Both had to have their tails amputated. The two pups alone in one day have us at a $700.00 vet bill!
There are many more dogs over there that need our help and the horse and the pups alone are a huge burden on our small rescue.
We have since also been asked for help by a neighbor with his dogs! He has a litter that is 2 weeks old and a litter born the morning we were there! After talking to him, he wants to do the right thing and spay his dogs. We want to help him before this terrible cycle continues.
These dogs deserve better but we cannot do it alone!
We need help and we are literally on our knees begging right now.
These people are reaching out for our help and these dogs need help. I realize we can't save all the dogs in the world but we can save those right in front of us.
A very wise young lady recently told me that "Every dog is like a book, they all have a story to tell" and believe me when I say...there is library waiting for us to hear their stories!
We need:
*Topical Flea Applications (Frontline would be great but cheaper stuff will do...Biospot etc but please, no Hartz products)
*Quality Dog Food (they have been eating Dollar Store food and not that often)
*Spay/Neuter vouchers
*Gift Cards for PetCo, Petsmart or Walmart to help us get supplies
*Capstar (oral flea killer)
*Blankets
*Supplies for the Horse (Supplements, food, wormers, etc.)
*Foster Homes!
*ADOPTERS
*Donations for Vet Bills!!!!!!
Any help is appreciated!
