Adopt-A-Pet at Sandburg Mall in Galesburg

Who We Are
We are a not-for-profit organization which:

**Operates the City of Galesburg Animal Control Program and provides boarding services for municipalities throughout Knox County. **Investigates animal cruelty and neglect cases. **Provides low-cost spay/neuter voucher program. **Provides community education programs concerning animal overpopulation issues, general pet care, and positive reinforcement classes for animal behavior. **Has established a foundation to provide for the long-term financial stability and continuation of the work of the Prairieland Animal Welfare Center.

  1. Spay/Neuter
  2. Rabies Shot
  3. Booster Shots
  4. Initial Deworming
  5. Rabbit adoptions include copy of House Rabbit Handbook by Marinell Harriman

    General Voluteering

    Volunteers are welcome. Orientations are held periodically to train in dog handling. Please call the shelter for more information.
    Donating to PAWC
    We are always in need of:
    • Bleach
    • Laundry Detergent
    • Paper Towels
    • Dish Soap
    • Cat and Dog Toys
    • Oil Dry (used as cat litter)

      Monetary donations are always accepted and can be donated:
      • By mail or in person
      • As a Memorial or Honorarium
      • Or to our Foundation (which accepts donations as a bequest, an insurance or investment trust, or as a charitable remainder trust).

    The Prairieland Animal Welfare Center is located within the Hawthorne Center in Galesburg. Adoption hours are from 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Saturday. See direction map on our website: www.kchs.net Directions from 34 - Exit at Seminary St. Take Seminary St. south until you reach the 4-way stop sign. This road is Carl Sandburg Drive(the road that eventually passes Wal-Mart and the mall). Take a left and travel .25 miles. At the first street (Veterans) take a right. Almost immediately you will veer/turn to the left. Windish will begin at the bend to the right after the water tower. After this bend, we are the first parking lot on the right-hand side. There is a large sign on the front lawn.
