We are looking for people interested in fostering and evaluating our rescued Shelties.
Who We Are
Avenue of the Saints Sheltie Rescue is dedicated to finding forever, indoor homes for purebred Shelties. We operate out of Avenue of the Saints Animal Hospital in Waverly, IA. We are a small volunteer group and most of our Shelties are evaluated and live in foster homes as they await their new forever homes. All Shelties are examined by a veterinarian, treated for parasites, tested for heartworm and placed on heartworm preventative, current on vaccinations, and spayed or neutered prior to adoption, and additional medical treatments are provided as needed.
Adopting a friend
If you are interested in adopting, we encourage you to go through our approval process. Our adoption process consists of an adoption application, reference checks, a home visit and an adoption fee. Shelties are available to meet once an applicant is approved for adoption. Although there is only one breed of Shetland Sheepdog, Shelties do come in various colors and sizes.
