Yes, it's true, Santa Paws has notified PALS that a visit is planned to the PALS shelter on Saturday, December 6, from 9AM to noon.
Come on out with your 4-legged kids for pictures with Santa Paws! Oh yes, 2-legged kids are also welcome. :)
Everyone is looking for the perfect gift to give; a gift that means
something, a gift that has value, a gift that can even make a
difference in someone’s life.
A donation to PALS is a unique
meaningful gift for your loved ones this holiday season, making a real
difference in the life of a neglected or abandoned animal.
• For a gift of $25 your recipient will receive a special holiday card
acknowledging that a generous gift was made to PALS in his or her
name.
• For a gift of $100 your recipient will receive a special holiday card
acknowledging that and animal has been sponsored on his or her
behalf for the month of December.
• For a gift of $500 your recipient will receive a special holiday card
acknowledging that a particular animal (cat or dog)
has been
sponsored on his or her behalf for the entire length of their stay at
PALS.
100% of your gift is tax-deductible.
PALS is a no-kill shelter, run entirely by volunteers, and your
financial help is critical to the operation of the shelter.

LOCATION: 4163 20th St Grinnell, IA (from Hwy 146, turn west across from GMRC, shelter is by the Westfield Church)
Please spread the word that no animals should be "dumped" here - besides being illegal, dumped animals can wander off and suffer terrible fates before they are discovered.
We always need volunteers to staff the shelter. 7 am, 5 pm and 9 pm, 7 days a week, are our current shifts. Saturdays we need assistance from 9 to 11:30 for the shelter open hours.
The more people who come, the easier it is on everyone and the more attention the homeless kids get!
Individuals or groups can take a time slot, a day, a week, we will work with you to help you help the homeless kids. :)

Adopting a Pal!
If you are interested in one or more of the PALS kids, please be sure to request and fill out an application before you come to the shelter. Filling out an application is in no way a commitment to adopt, so if you are only considering adopting, please go ahead and fill out an application. It's easy to get one, just e-mail palsiowa@pcpartner.net.
At this time, the shelter is open by appointment only, so be sure to have one before you come! Call PALS at 641-236-4288 or e-mail palsiowa@pcpartner.net to schedule an appointment to visit with the homeless PALS kids.
PALS does not let the fact that you may live out of state stop any adoption that's meant to be, but you MUST be willing to drive, or fly, all the way to pick up your new family member. Cats may be adopted for a $60 donation, kittens for $45, and dogs and puppies starting at $95. This amount may vary due to various factors such as medical expenses.

About PALS
PALS' mission is to provide care and shelter for homeless or unwanted animals, to strive to find permanent, loving homes for these animals, to respond to animal neglect and abuse reports, to educate children and adults in our communities on the humane treatment of animals, and on the importance of spaying and neutering to prevent pet overpopulation.
Prior to the opening of the PALS shelter building in October of 2007, the only option for stray animals picked up by city police and sheriff’s departments in Poweshiek County was a 7-day stay at local veterinary clinics. If owners or an adopting family were not found in that short period of time, the animals were then euthanized. PALS has stepped in not only to provide a safe haven for these homeless animals, but to also ensure they receive responsible vet care including spay/neuters, shots, deworming, and flea/tick control, as well as addressing any emergency medical concerns.
Since the very first meeting of PALS in February of 2004, we have:
- Elected a fourth year of board of directors
- Received our 501(c)3 non-profit status and shelter license
- Amassed a list of close to 260 volunteers/donors in Poweshiek County
- Had numerous fundraisers, and are perpetually looking forward to our next fund-raising activity
- Established a substantial community presence
- Continued to submit grant proposals to various foundations across Iowa and the United States
- Purchased 6 acres of land with a steel building and renovated this building to become a shelter licensed by the state of Iowa
- Helped over 700 dogs and cats (and bunnies, ferrets, horses, turtles, birds and fish!) to find loving and responsible homes
