Our Mission
The mission of the Muscatine Humane Society is to educate the public of the importance and dire necessity to spay and neuter their animals to prevent the needless suffering that follows pet overpopulation. Concurrently the Society provides a safe haven for lost or abandoned animals until their owners or new homes can be obtained.Our hours are: Adoption fees: Volunteering and Donations Donations of the following items are much needed

Adopting a Friend
Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Prevously Altered dogs - $80.00
Unaltered Dogs $135-$150 depending on our costs for surgery.
Altered cats - $65.00
(The adoption fee covers the entire spay or neuter surgery for non-altered animals.)
All animals are vaccinated against contagious diseases, wormed, groomed and temperament tested prior to being offered for adoption.
Pre-Adoption applications are required as we are dedicated to match pets with owners that will provide them with a happy home for the duration of their lives.
*We reserve the right to deny anyone adoption of a pet.

We are a mile or so off of Hwy 61 on the south end of town. From the south, turn left on Houser and it's a short drive on the left hand side. From the north, take the Hwy 61 bypass to Hershey. Turn left on Hershey, then take the first right, which is Houser, then we're just down on the right. The sign says Nancy E. Kent Animal Shelter.
