KATE'S BEEN ADOPTED!!!!!!!
Kate and Virgil came to us with their mother (pure German Shepherd Dog) when they were only 1 week old. They, with their mother and siblings were going to be put down by a local shelter unless a rescue group jumped in to help. So here we are 8 months later. Everyone has been adopted but poor Virgil. He is one of the most beautiful dogs you will see. If you love GSD's, you'll hit it off immediately with this guy. When you see them in person, you'll see the GSD in them; the way they think, carry themselves and the glorious gate. Outside of being black and floppy ears, they look like young black German Shepherds although I don't think they're going to be as big as a typical GSD. I know there's someone out there that's just dieing to give Virgil his forever home! He's been waiting a long time!
PETS ARE A LIFETIME COMMITTMENT
It's the season for puppies and owner give ups! Rescue groups hate this time of the year. Although we want to try and save all that we can and help where we can, most rescue groups are filled to capacity. If you have reached a point in your life where you don't want your pet, before you call a rescue group, think long and hard. You're pet depends on you and considers you a part of his/her life. How would you feel if you were given up? If you are desperate and need to give up your pet, then most rescue groups would be willing to assist you in finding a home for your pet, if you can house them until they find a new home - foster families are in short supply. You can also list your pet on petfinder.com, creativeloafing.com, and most newspapers will provide a free listing. Also remember, before you take your pet to the animal shelter, owner give ups are the first to be euthanized. Their length of stay depends solely on the generosity of the shelter and their capacity. If your dog is a large breed and/or an adult, they are least likely to be adopted from a shelter.
Who We Are
A family devoted to rescuing "last chance" animals on death row and finding them loving and forever homes. Everyone always wonders how people get into rescue, well our story goes something like this: we've always had an obsession with large breeds, specifically Rottweilers. Several years ago, we rescued "Jason", he's a Rottweiler who was found with a broken jaw (blow to the head) that had healed shut. A rescue group saw the love in his eyes, a vet repaired his jaw, we saw him in a "special needs" ad and the rest is history. Jason is our first rescue and responsible for changing our lives. You don't realize how blind you are to the lives of these animals until it smacks you in the face. Since adopting Jason, we have become very active in rescuing those that no one else would. We became the local "Rottweiler" rescue, and everyone knew who to call. Then the summer of 2003 we became aware of a shelter that euthanizes moms with babies or moms about to have babies automatically, unless a rescue group (and only a rescue group) saves them. We just couldn't stand the thought of an entire family being euthanized without even a chance in life, so now we're the puppy people. Just since the summer of 2003 we have saved 14 lives that had an automatic death warrent and one who is due any day now. Rescue one puppy and you will see what we mean. We strive to help all that we can with our own finances. We don't ask for donations, but only hope we can do what we can, to save who we can. "We can't save them all, but we can save what we can".
Adopting a friend
Just fill out an application, tolerate our screening process (this part is easy if you are an animal lover) and take your new baby home! Our adoption fee is $125 to help us offset our veterinary bill (doesn't touch it, but who's counting pennies).
Come Visit Us!
We would be happy to host visitors who are interested in adopting one of our furry friends. Just send us an email or call to schedule an appointment.
