Who We Are

The Muscogee County Humane Society is a nonprofit organization located in Columbus, GA. We do not receive any funding from the city or state. We are an 'adoption guaranteed' shelter, therefore our ability to accept animals is based on the number of adoptions. We currently house around 170 cats and kittens and 150 dogs and puppies. We disease test, vaccinate, deworm, spay/neuter & microchip all of our animals.

OUR FEATURE PET OF THE MONTH IS "JETHRO"!!

DID YOU KNOW WE CAN SPAY OR NEUTER YOUR PET??

Contact our office to see which spay/neuter program will fit into your budget. We also offer vaccines, disease testing, dewormings, and microchip services to any spayed or neutered animal.

Whisker's Thrift Shop

Did you know we have a Thrift Shop? Well, we do! It is located outside of J.D. Kinders Furniture store. It is operated by some of our wonderful volunteers Monday - Saturday from 11 AM - 3 PM. Just come on out and take a look, we might have just what you are looking for. Are you a college student looking to furnish your dorm? Do you need a small kitchen appliance? We have items A to Z!!!! If you would like to donate any items, please call Jean Kelly at 706-563-3647 or drop items off at the shop during buisness hours. All proceeds go directly to the animals of the Muscogee County Humane Society.

Foster Homes Needed!

Since small kittens and puppies under 3 pounds don't thrive well in a shelter environment, we like to place our kittens and puppies in foster care. We are always in need of fosters. We provide all food and medical for fosters. If you are interested in being a foster home, please call us at (706) 563-3647.

Are you a senior 60 years of age or older? Then we have a special "Pets for Seniors" program. Our "Pets for the Elderly Program" offers pets to seniors at a reduced adoption fee. Not all animals at the shelter are available for the reduced senior adoptions.

Patented Kuranda Dog Beds We have chosen Kuranda dog beds for our boarding facilities because they are so good for our dogs. We still don't have enough for all of our kennels. If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort, please click here.
