If you have ever considered adopting a big black dog, now's the time! If you haven't considered it, maybe you should. Big dogs have big hearts, and these great dogs are no exception! Right now, we have so many black labs and black lab mixes, we can't count them all! If you've been thinking of adopting a dog, please consider one of these sweethearts. They're just as loveable, they're just usually overlooked.
We have new dogs and cats coming in every week. Unfortunately, we can't post them all here, sadly there are too many of them. If you don't fall in love with an animal listed here, please stop by to see our other wonderful furry friends!
Who We Are
The Etowah Valley Humane Society is a non-profit organization working in conjunction with the Bartow County Animal Control to promote the ethical and humane treatment of animals. We are responsible for animal adoptions. All our expenses depend upon fund raising and donations. If you would like to volunteer or make a donation, please visit us, email us, or call us at (770) 383-3338.
Adopting a friend
If you find a furry friend that interests you, please come down to the shelter and fill out an application. Applications are also available online at our website. Adoption fees are $100 for puppies, $125 for dogs over 6 months, $85 for cats and kittens. This fee includes the first set of shots (including rabies), a wellness check at the vet, spay or neuter, microchipping with registration and a leash and collar with id tag. Cats and kittens are also tested for feline leukemia/FIV. All animals adopted must be spayed or neutered before leaving the shelter.

If you call during normal business hours and must leave a message, your call will be returned within 24-48 business hours. Our limited staff must assist potential adopters that are currently in the shelter and also attend to the animals in our care. Thank you for your understanding.
