Who We Are

Save Our Strays, Inc. is a newly incorporated non-profit organization dedicated to companion animal rescue serving the metro-Atlanta area.

Animals that make their way through our foster home system will undergo essential veterinary care. The pets are tested (heartworm for dogs, feline leukemia and AIDS for cats), given the appropriate vaccination series (DHLPP, FVRCP, Rabies) and are surgically sterilized. We are a no-kill foster care shelter that enforces a mandatory spay/neuter policy. Our veterinarian provides our pets with a physical examination and upon her direction, we administer any necessary medical attention. Pets in our care are dewormed and treated with flea and heartworm preventative on a monthly basis.

Once the animal is deemed healthy and happy, we find the most appropriate and loving home for them. This process could take two days, weeks or years--they stay with us until we find an acceptable home.

Adopting a Friend

To adopt your next best friend, you would be required to fill out an adoption contract and agree to the terms and conditions. In addition, the adoption fee for all foster pets is $90.00 which includes the aforementioned medical treatments. Larger breeds (i.e. Great Dane) require a significantly larger adoption fee because treatments (surgery, flea treatment, heartworm preventative, food etc.) are much more expensive.

We expect that our clients would agree to unannounced home visits by our foster agents and we reserve the right to remove a placed animal if we deem the animal is in danger or neglected in any way.

It is essential that our clients are extremely happy with their new pet, however, occasionally an adoptee turns out to be very different than expected. For example, the new pet may dislike your prexisting pets, or they require much more maintance than you thought. Althouth we try to educate our clients on the type of breed, estimated veterinary costs and special needs of these pets, sometimes things don't work out. We encourage a prompt return of the adopted pet and we expect that pet to be well maintained and cared for. WE TAKE BACK OUR PETS ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. We do not want these animals back in animal control because they are our responsibility.

Please Help Us Help Homeless Animals

S.O.S., Inc. graciously accepts donations of any kind because our limiting factors are money (for veterinary costs) and space (cages and crates to house our foster pets). We are in great need of your old blankets, sheets and towels to keep our foster babies comfortable and warm. Donations of dog/puppy/cat/kitten food, litter, litter boxes, dishes, leashes and collars or any of your old pet equipment such as crates or cages would be extremely helpful.

We are 501(c)3 tax exempt therfore all donations would be tax deductible retroactively as of 24 September 2002.

If you would like to contribute a monetary donation or donate physical items, please call or email our webmaster for instructions.

We would like to thank you for your generous contributions in advance. You are truly appreciated.
