About Us
Friends of Animals (Buckhead Branch) is an all volunteer non-profit NO-KILL rescue group based in Atlanta, Georgia, and a subsidiary of the national Friends of Animals group. All pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated with flea control before adoption. Cats and kittens have been tested negative for Feline Leukemia and Feline Aids unless otherwise noted. All dogs have been tested negative for heartworm and are currently on heartworm preventative unless otherwise noted. Each animal has a sponsor who will be glad to talk with you in detail about their animal's individual personality and preferences or needs. We are committed to matching animals with adoptive families that are perfect for each other.
When you adopt an animal from us, we will gladly take that animal back at any time, for the duration of the animal's life, should you become unable to care for it. If an animal is returned within 30 days, the entire adoption fee will be refunded. Veterinary medical insurance will be provided for 30 days free of charge for each adopted animal. Pick up a brochure when adopting from us, and make one telephone call to activate the insurance.
NOTE: Except in special circumstances, WE DO NOT DO LONG-DISTANCE ADOPTIONS because of the difficulties.

My name is Lambert! Hi, I'm an elderly, male poodle mix. I would make an excellent companion and watch dog.
For more information about how to adopt me please call my foster mom Margarete @ 404-523-1406.
Come Visit Us!
- When: Open adoptions are held Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Please call ahead if you are looking at a particular pet.
- Where: At the Buckhead PetSmart, click here for directions.
Dog adoptions are held by several groups in front of the store, and our cats and kittens can be seen in the Luv-A-Pet Center inside the store. The cat cages will be open on Saturday afternoons from noon to 4pm and you can hold and pet the cats. (Children are welcome when accompanied by parents.) You can also schedule a private visit with a specific animal by calling the volunteer who is sponsoring the animal. (See information in the ads, or on the cage if you are at PetSmart). We will do our best to accommodate your busy schedule!
If you have seen a dog that you are interested in adopting, please fill out one of our adoption aplications - Click here to download this.....
To inquire about a specific animal, please use the contact information provided in each animal's description if it is different from the above. If there is no contact listed, you may email our Web Adoptions Coordinator at fatzombie@comcast.net or telephone Michele at 404-642-4775. Also, please always contact the foster general for all our animals since we do have pets on the web that are not at the adoption center. We sometimes give the cats a break from the cages, so please call ahead if you have seen someone you're particularly interested in. The dogs are at Petsmart on Saturday and Sunday. If you want to see a particular dog, please contact the number included in the dog's description to confirm what day they will be there. Thanks!
We have A LOT of kittens in right now, so please come by and also look here on our website.
