Please Don't Litter > SPAY AND NEUTER
SPECIAL THANKS to Ogeechee Technical College's Vet Tech program! Each week, several cats and dogs are sent to OTC to be spayed or neutered, tested for various illnesses, and vaccinated. The animals usually leave the shelter on Monday and return from OTC on Friday. The added bonus for you, as an adopter, is that there is not any additional fee for these animals!
If you'd like to, here's what you can do to help support
us:
First and foremost, please consider adopting one of these homeless pets.
But if that's not an option for you, THERE ARE OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP!
Food,
of course is essential, and canned food and dry food for cats/kittens and dogs/puppies
(dry food is preferred) is always appreciated, but other items are also needed:
and other items any pet requires to remain healthy and happy are always accepted with gratitude
If you are on a tight budget, have no fear!
Even a few minutes of your time is a great gift for these animals!
Come walk a dog or cuddle a kitty. You'll enjoy it as much as they do! We accept volunteers anytime!
Adopting a Friend
There is a minimal $35 ADOPTION FEE that includes deworming and the pet's first set of vaccinations.
Proof of sterilization (spay/neuter) and rabies vaccination are also required within 30 days of adoption or until the animal reaches sexual maturity (6 months).
This must be done at the adopter's expense.
Keep in mind that some of our adoptable pets have been vetted through Ogeechee Tech's Vet Tech program.
Your adoption contract also serves as a 30% off coupon for the spay and neuter of your pet if they are not already altered prior to adoption. This is reimbursed by the Bulloch County Humane Society's Animal Rescue Division.
When adopting, please consider the older pets as well, since they are often overlooked. Our shelter is always overflowing with puppies and kittens, but we also have lots of wonderful adult animals. Many of them are already housebroken, past the puppy stages of chewing, and some are already spayed or neutered! Also, keep in mind that with adult pets, what you see is what you get. They are already full-grown, so there will be no surprises with size later on.
Please remember that a pet is a commitment for LIFE.
