I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter....the castoffs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal. And I was angry. "God" I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?" God was silent for a moment and then spoke softly, "I have done something" was the reply, "I created you" Author unknown,

No information at all on my history, but wow, am I a sweet guy!!!! I will give you a big MEOW when you give me a scritch; kind of an unusual MEOW because I can't hear myself talk. I am deaf , but besides my unique meow, you would never know and I do very well for myself. I am SO ready to find someone to love....please come by and see how terrific I am. Stop by to meet me!

HUMANE SOCIETY PROPERTY FLOODED Tropical Storm Fay brought its wrath to our shelter door--literally. Our creek flooded over, our pond flooded over, our basement and storage area was knee deep in storm waters, and water was spilling out of our garage. We also had leaks inside that forced us to take cats and kittens out of the back room and find a place for them in our very crowded front room area. As I write this, we are still trying to dry up our basement. The water poured through our walls, as well as up through the cement floors. We have had to rent very expensive equipment to extract the water, dry out the walls and use chemicals to get rid of the mold and mildew. Outside, the water is receding, but in its wake we are loaded with sand and debris in almost every part of our property. We desperately need volunteers who can help us clean up the outside. Sharon and Trish are exhausted from the massive amount of work they have had to do during the storm. Luckily, our beloved cats are safe. The Peacocks weathered the storm, and the raccoons are coming back from wherever they were hiding during the storm. We ask your help at this very difficult time. We need small bite dry dog food and cat food, wet cat food (Fancy Feast,Friskies and 9 lives), bird seed and cleaning supplies. Money is good too. We have PayPal on our website. www.brevard.petfinder.org e-mail: humanesocietysb@bellsouth.net Call Sharon at the shelter if you can help 321-259-0601 Thank you. Sibyl Aloe VP

GREAT NEWS !!! we will be opening a thrift store soon. We are looking for a GOOD location so if any of you know of one where there is a lot of foot traffic and parking please let us know.We also need good condition donations such as household items, books, clothes, furniture etc.to stock the store. At this time we can't accept anymore iems because until we can get the cottage cleaned up after the flood we have no place to put things. Hopefully it won't be too long. We will need shelving, a display case, cash register and a counter (or supplies to build one) and security cameras. As always we are accepting donations 7 days a week at the shelter and remember they are tax deductible.

WHO WE ARE

The Humane Society of South Brevard is an independently-run, non-profit, no-kill animal shelter. We DO NOT euthanize ANY animal unless their quality of life would suffer due to major medical problems. Our cats are free to roam inside our facility. We always strive to provide individual attention to all of our animals until they can be placed in caring, loving, lifetime homes. We have provided this service since 1978. In the unlikely event you find the pet you have adopted does not quite fit into your family, we will always take our cats back.
We take in cats on a pre-arranged basis only. Since we are a no kill shelter we do not "make room" for new cats. As we adopt and have space available we take in more. If you have a cat that needs a home please call and we will put them on our waiting list.

BEQUESTS

We DO NOT receive any federal, state or county funding. With only several hundred members, dues do not come close to covering what we spend on the animals. Fortunately, several members have left bequests to our Society and this has enabled us to continue our great work. Please remember the animals when you prepare your will. There are organizations with similar names, so please be specific in naming the Humane Society of South Brevard, Inc. Remember, we depend solely on your kindness.

BECOME A MEMBER!

SPECIAL NOTES

Although there are many good animal care groups in Brevard County, and we support any and all sincere efforts to care for unwanted, abused and neglected animals, we want you to know there are differences. If you have any questions about our policies or mission, please contact us with your questions. We will be more than happy to answer them for you. Call us at 321-259-0601.

ADOPTING A FRIEND

We currently have many wonderful cats available for adoption. The fee is $65. This fee includes feline leukemia and FIV tests, microchip, spaying or neutering, rabies and feline distemper vaccines, and deworming. WE DO NOT adopt to homes that declaw or let their cats outside. It is against the law in Brevard Co. for your cat to run loose and of course there are many dangerous things they can get into ourdoors. .

FOSTER PROGRAM

We also have a foster program to help with our unadoptable cats, for a small fee of $5.00 per month we will send you a picture and bio of the cat of your choice and of course you can come and visit anytime. This helps defray the cost of caring for these cats that will spend their lives with us. For more information please call 321-259-0601 HOW YOU CAN HELP Ther are many ways you can help our organization. Here's how.
