Little Jake,
Little Jake, came from Duval Animal Control Center. He was orginally rescued a little over a year ago 1-07 and was transported to a rescue in Georgia that went bad. He was left abandoned with 60 other dogs. When Animals Control got the call about a smell and an abandoned house, they found him along with many others in pee, poop and trash. There were many dead ones found too. Thanks to the good samaritans of the Thomasville Humane Society, many were saved and placed. Most of the ones from Duval ACC made it back , but were in such horrific conditions that very few found a rescue group to go to. We look many of them. Little Jake -- was heart worm positive , and had a major heart murmur., He needed major medical to treat his level 5 heart problems. After months of treatment by Dr Jamie Dunn starting in 3-08, he is now, free and clear of heart worms and his heart problems are under control. He finally got to be neutered. He has hair now and is such a loving little old man. Little Jake is looking for a retirement home where he can just hang out. He is housebroken and gets along with everyone and everything. The kitties love him. He doesn't bother anyone. He is very mellow, but alert. He is a little chihuahua and very laid back. He is fawn in color. He is a true survivor.

It's kitty and puppy season, so please spay/neuter . and stop the killing. Please check out all the local rescues to adopt before you decide to buy a pet. There is one waiting for you out there........
November is Senior week and do we have them. We have alot of seniors, but like wine they have aged quite well, and you do not have to work about potty training them , nor chewing. They are so sweet and acclimate so fast. Adopt a Senior, You will not be sorry.

Who we are.....
We are a North East Florida foster care adoption rescue group for small pure breed and mix animals.. Our rescues are either homeless or abandoned animals THAT ARE CRUELTY CASES from our local North East Florida Animal Controls Shelters.. Unlike many other state, county, city and local groups we are not funded thru government agencies therefore we can take in animals both locally and outside our area. We have no boundaries. Many of our members are active and retired military personnel .After serving in many countries, especially in third world countries, the organization has made a difference in the lives of not only the animals, but the local people who have asked for help and who lives are no better than the homeless animals rescued. We find new "LEASHES ON LIFE".
90% OF OUR RESCUES ARE LOCAL RESCUES------ that were turned away from our local city,and county shelters and other BREED SPECIFIC RESCUES as well as local HUMANE SOCIETIES & SPCA groups due to no space, euthanasia, HIGH MEDICAL BILLS or outside the county/city limits. Every animal that comes into our program stays with us till they are adopted. We are a no-Kill foster care HUMANE and SPCA ORGANIZATION . Our animals do not have a time limit. Like our name, we have many HANDICAPPED animals and are looking for those special homes that are willing to work with these handicapped pets. We foster cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, birds, Horses and small animals. Our rescues are usually under 10 lbs full grown. One life saved is better than none. All adoptions except for small fury ones- eg. hampsters, are STERILIZED prior to adoption -Thanks due to the help of 4 Paws Pet Clinic in Yulee, Loften Creek in Yulee, Doctor's Pet Complex in Ponte Vedra & San Pablo/Beach Blvd locations, Julington Creek Animal Hospital and Brentwood Animal Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida for making a difference by vetting our rescues. . Adopting a friend
To adopt any of our dogs please request an adoption form and indicate which dog(s) you are interested in. Please be advised that filling out an adoption form is not a contract or agreement of you adopting that pet. It's purpose is to obtain information and find a suitable home that BEST matches that particular animal. Adoption fees range from $150 and up for dogs and $90 and up for cats depending on care provided to the pet, i.e.; spaying/neutering ,vaccinations, surgery. Please know that the adoption fee only covers part of the cost we spend for these animals. You may see the animals up for adoption on weekends in Jacksonville. We take multiple applications. After all paper work, interviews and home checks , you will then be notified of the adoption.

Adoptions take place only after approval.- KITTIES- PETCO on Atlantic / Kernan -Jacksonville, next to the Super Walmart and the Ross Store, ---Sat/Sun 12 TO 5. Small Dogs- -Sundays 1-4 at Petsmart at Regency on Monument Blvd. ***EXCLUDING HOLIDAYS. PLEASE CALL TO CONFIRM each week!!!!! Some Saturdays at Petco Marsh Landings in Ponte Vedra. If there is a JAGS game we will do adoptions on Saturdays instead of Sundays, for dogs only.,
Since we are not a shelter----We can not accept animals to be dropped off. All animals are in Foster Home Care. Let us know if you can become a foster care member or perhaps help at our adoption events.
