Who We Are
Gainesville Ferret Rescue was established in 1994 and is located in Gainesville, Florida. We do not euthanize a ferret unless it is the humane thing to do. It is with saddest that we are closing the rescue. We will not be taking anymore ferrets in. If you do not have a place to take your ferret to surrender PLEASE do not let your ferret loose outside. They can not live on there own and most likely have a horrible death.If you are interested in adopting a homeless ferret please call Westend Animal Hospital at 352-472-7626 or go to www.westendanimal.com and click on rescues.
If you are thinking of getting a ferret please educate yourself as they are expensive and require alot of time. We highly suggest the book "Ferrets for Dummies" by Kim Schilling. The second chapter of this book is "Is a Ferret the Right Pet for You?". Please read this before getting a ferret. There are alot of homeless ferrets. Too many for the rescues. There is a website that maybe able to help you with just about any problem associated with ferrets. Please check out www.miamiferret.org
